Golly, I'm quite certain that if she was our delivery person, my Spousal Unit's ordering/deliveries would slow down dramatically knowing I usually meet the deliveries at our back door.

The good news is, my building and the erection crew are scheduled for delivery next Monday now. Yeah, the builder finally got and processed my check. Once erected, I will schedule the electrician (already notified), spray foam insulation and gutters to direct water flow to where I want it to go.
With electronic billing and receipts, email and other things, I rarely use USPS and will try to avoid in the future. It's simply too unreliable except for (as Mary Jane said) JUNK MAIL I don't want anyway.------------------ Rams Learning most of life's lessons the hard way. . Just venting here:
Went to my bank and got a cashier's check for my new shop deposit. (Half the building price.) Went straight to the US Post Office and paid handsomely for overnight delivery. Payment had to be received in order to get on the schedule. That was last Wednesday about noon. The check was delivered today, Monday at 1300 hrs. The delay means I won't get my shop built now till the last week of April. The erection crew already has all they can handle this week.
As I said, I'm venting. I was and am still pissed. While I did get my Overnight Charge returned to me, the delay in getting the shop built really ticks me off, throws a monkey wrench into my plans for the rest of Spring and into Summer. That two-post lift I ordered will now either have to be delayed or left sitting out in the weather until I can get a roof up. I know I can wrap it in a tarp but...................
Interesting, venting doesn't do a damn bit of good about making me feel better about it. |

I suppose now is not a good time to joke about the Erection Crew? (Sorry, I'm very immature).
I totally understand, it's so frustrating. For things like that, I unfortunately never trust USPS... I always go with UPS and / or FedEx. The failure for things to be on time is rarely, if ever because of the logistics (planes, vehicles, etc.)... but the people operating within the confines of the contract. If you get something delivered to a UPS Store by 5:00 PM, and you do overnight, and it says "must be shipped by 5:00PM" ... you can guarantee it will be there come hell or high water, overnight. But if you drop it off at 5:00 PM at USPS in the slot, which says 5:00 PM (just saying, not sure if any of these times are correct). It's possible that the USPS person wanted to go home early, and may have checked it last at 4:45 or 4:30, or whatever it is.
Or if there's a slight issue with the package, it'll sit on a desk,.. and then they'll do the other tasks and not deal with it until they have time... so now your overnight is a 3-day.
USPS is great for inexpensive quick delivery using priority... but sad to say, I'd never rely on them if I truly needed something next day.
Sorry man...

Sorry. Darlene was a mail carrier (recently retired). But she is not Fiero Chick's mom. And Darlene's daughters were never on the forum, except maybe in passing.

Hindsight is 20/20 but if it was that critical, you could have had your bank wire the money. The wire fee would have probably been the same or cheaper than the over night shipping fee.
That sucks that USPS dropped the ball. I cannot believe it was that late. You should be able to look up the tracking information to get an idea of what happened.

I personally think the USPS hub centers here in California hire nothing but lazy, entitled morons who really don't care about getting your packages to your door in a timely fashion.
I live 5 hours from Los Angeles. I order something from Irvine and it sits at the USPS hub in Irvine for 3-4 days before being shipped. Then I have to wait another 3 days for it to drive past my house to the hub in Sacramento so if I'm lucky, I'll get an item that is 5 hours away in about 5-7 days. It's almost insulting to me.
Meanwhile I ordered an electrical item from Nevada and it arrived in 3 days, an item I ordered from Japan arrived in 8 days WITH customs, and items that I order from Florida take about 5 days.
It's clearly a southern california problem. They should shitcan the entire staff and hire more qualified people who will actually take pride in their job.
