I usually don't care about the personal life of someone who makes music or art or movies or whatever... up to a point. Politics and bedroom antics, I don't care about, but I found out someone I've listened to a little in the past is an absolute monster to his kids. Drained their blood and other (even grosser) stuff. I wasn't exactly a big fan prior, but now I definitely am not... ugh!

One of my favorite albums is "Days of Future Passed' by the Moody Blues....they did the whole album with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra on the album's 25th anniversary at Red Rocks in Colorado back in 1992...I bought the Video and watched it...Then got a chance to see them at the Shoreline Amphitheater when they were doing a tour....the concert included the California Symphony Orchestra...That was an amazing experience.

My favorite MB song is "Question"...I call it the "Spaghetti western song" but it is really great...

The Moody Blues - and Justin Hayward - reminded me of this.
I think I still have it on vinyl, someplace.

I like the two-parter story of "Your Wildest Dreams" and "I know you're out there Somewhere"

I really disliked Nugent for years because in '79 I was back in Millington, TN for my Navy "A" school....the first month I was doing Mess-cooking (KP duty) and stuck in a big barracks- EVERY night some idiot would crank up "Double Live Gonzo".....Nugent would state "I hope nobody came here to get mellow- If anyone did he can get the F- Out!!" and the fool would jump up and start yelling "Get the F- out! GET THE F- OUT!!!!"

It was kind of annoying.....

Everything about Millington Tn was kinda annoying... I was there in '69 for school and again '71- early 73 for instructor duty, USMC.

The thing about Millington that stood out to me was the weather...I had heard how bad weather could be back in that area, but the first 3 weeks were pleasant, mild temp, no wind or rain....Then it snowed- ONE TIME- and that snow stayed on the ground for TWO months...after that it started raining, flooding out everything over two months....then it started warming up and everyone would sit around watching TV- not a show but the Ticker at the bottom of the screen, so they would know when to bend over and kiss their a****** good-bye due to tornados..

During the last two weeks, I was doing make-work, filing stuff....I noticed they had a heavy screen over the window- saw a weird beetle....extended the pencil lead and slid it thru the screen- poked the beetle in the mouth and it snapped the tip off with it's mandibles!

Later, I was walking to a remote location to drop off some stuff to ship to my new station (USS Coral Sea) and the cement walk-way weaved thru some trees...every time I passed one of those trees a large bug would fly out and around me- not buzzing but DRONING like a small aircraft!

That was great. I hadn't realized (or had forgotten over the years) that there was a connection between two different Moody Blues music videos.

I remember hearing the full album on FM radio decades ago, and I was mesmerized. (I had read the book as a teenager, and I loved the 1953 movie adaptation.)

Here's the full album...

Now, that's a classic! I'm really dating myself here, but I had the 8-track version of the album that this song was released on, and it always pissed me off that the 8-track tape needed to change tracks just when the up-tempo part of the song was about to kick in! Ah, fond memories of listening to that song in my '67 Chevelle SS396 back in the day.

I've re-visited this, because today I came across a great YouTube channel where the fella has remastered old music videos and enhanced both the picture and the sound. Among the many classics that are available to view Here, is this fantastic live 1977 concert footage of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing Freebird. Normally, I hate live music recorded at concerts, as the audio quality usually sucks... but this sounds and looks amazing! For anyone not familiar with the song, stick with it... you'll eventually get your socks blown off!
Wow, watching this sure brings back memories of being a 20-something during that era. Rock on!

I am a fan of Skynyrd and Freebird. (I live in Georgia. It's a rule...)
Even have an early demo (I think) version of the song - as well as Gimme Three Steps - somewhere.

But my mention of "FREEBIRD!" was really a dig at the morons who yell it at inappropriate times/venues, such as at a Moody Blues or King Crimson show, thinking they're being "clever". (This was kind of following the context of cvxjet's post. These idiots were the first thing that popped into my head.)
The joke played out years ago, but it's apparently still in use.

Rock on! I like this thread.
