I got a package in the mail, with $142 worth of overdue shipping charges??? (Page 2/2)

I had a postage due item that I purchased on ebay a while ago which was "free shipping." I went to the post office and they let me see package to see what it was to determine if I would pay. If you are curious go check it out.

Just on a hunch, I did a search. There was someone in Wikieup selling an '84 SE instrument cluster:

Long URL, may not work.

Is it possible that someone at your place ordered it, COD?

Just a shot in the dark. There ain't much happening in Wikieup.

I have probably driven through there a couple hundred times, but I don't think I have ever stopped there.

OMG... the guy wants $100 plus shipping for this piece of trash!??

I can only shake my head when I see photos such as this one where the "photographer" has absolutely no awareness of their own shadow.

If I drop something in a post office box with no postage will they deliver it and hope the recipient pays for it?

1. put whatever in any public mail box then USPS will put postage due on it & final PO will sent notice.

2. Yes. See 1.

But If have proper return address then USPS & more will return it as Insufficient postage/shipping.
I had one many years ago as stamp fell off after postal stamp @ post office. Show the marks to local Inspector so I didn't get charge twice.
USP FedEx etc often return packs because sender "weighed wrong" then weigh again @ first depot or find have other problems. (That for people w/o UPS accounts. Account holders often see more money added to ship X box but too many errors can cancel the account.)

Many miss that the "standard" 1st Class Stamp, including Forever Stamps, only covers 1oz max = ~ 3 20# pages + #10 business envelope. USPS may let a bit over weight letter post or not. When not then same thing happens. Example: Many "hallmark" cards often have a warning that the product needs extra stamps for this reason but depending on exact weight may not need 2 full stamps & why even now you see other Stamp values or have old stamps need added value for current 1st Class price as often happen a lot before USPS made Forever Stamps available.
