Used in that context, that is incorrect spelling.

The primary reason I use checks is that I can control when I want to pay. And that’s how I roll. 😀 Kit

I kept insisting for years that the bank tellers stamp my deposits in my bank book. They kept telling me they couldn't do it anymore. Finally I raised such a ruckus the bank manager told me he was closing my account, but instead of giving me cash money he gave me scrip. I told him he had to give me cash but he just had me arrested. Judge said he didn't have to give me cash, but the courts were crooked. But I showed him. I tore up that scrip and threw it in his face.

Damned kids today don't know the proper way to do anything.

So I just pay for everything I need with chickens. The way God intended it.

Heh... I only write a few checks each year. I pay for just about everything with my credit card. (I pay it off each month, with a "funds transfer" from my checking account to my bank card account.)
I absolutely refuse to own a debit card, or to use an ATM. Debit cards are NOT protected, and if you get scammed and cleaned out, the bank can tell you "Too bad. So sad." Yeah... no.

Comcast? A friend of mine dutifully makes out his check, each month, to "The Comcastards". He said that as long as the checks keep clearing, he's going to keep writing them that way.

Speaking of... we canceled DirecTV about three years ago. I stuck a $50 antenna on top of 20 feet of chainlink top rail, and pointed it towards Atlanta. It receives all of the major - and lots of the minor - Atlanta stations, with very few issues. I ran it through a distribution amp, and it feeds every TV in the house.
We also have fiber internet, a couple of smart TVs, and a couple more Firesticks for our not-so-smart TVs, so we have lots of options.
Before we moved out to the sticks, we also canned Xfinity, and used OTA. I got more channels, closer to town, but they were all junk channels.

Old school? I'm typing this on a Core2 Quad with 8 GB of RAM, running Windows 7. State of the stone-age art.
I had to quit using Chrome, because it's such a memory hog, but Firefox (which is supposed to be the same architecture) works wonderfully.

Technology is fine, when it actually makes stuff easier. But tech, for "tech's sake" is just a waste of time.

I almost forgot. No Alexa in my house. Never. The fewer "smart" devices, the better.

The other huge advantage of running Firefox with Win7, is that Firefox continues to be updated with security patches, whereas Chrome (while being run with Win7) stopped being updated ages ago.

I use Bill Pay from my back accounts- I have 2, conventional bank and a credit union acct I've had for 40 years. Both are free, the conventional because we have other deposit accounts there & the CU has always been free of service charges. It is simpler and if a bill needs to be paid by a check (no electronic transfer option), both will send out a check (oops cheque) for me, again for free.
I am old school in other ways. We use OTA for most TV (big a** antenna in the attic) plus a Roku w/ Netflix. Seems to take care of what we need & the OTA quality is great. We have fiber for the internet (not Xfinity or Verizon; was great dumping all the boxes and the modem on the table at the Xfinity store..good riddance) but 2 PC's are new w/ W11, a few older ones at W10 & Firefox.

Yeah. I noticed that a while back. Didn't really matter until Chrome started acting like it was constipated. I got tired of waiting for pages to load.

One odd thing I noticed, on BOTH browsers, is that when you do a Google search, and click on a page in the results, it will refuse to load that page due to some "security/certificate" issue. I think it does the same thing with a WebCrawler search, but I'm not absolutely sure, at this moment. Odd.
