Kit, if it wasn't you, I would be highly suspicious you were out to steal a car, .

Our "new" 2021 manual trans Wrangler has it. I hate it. I turn it off every time I drive it, when I think about it. (If you shift to neutral at a stop, and take your foot off the clutch - or any combination thereof - it cuts off the engine. As soon as you press the clutch, it starts back up. Annoying as hell.) There is an aux battery that is used for the stop start, but according to a guy I know who is a CDJR service writer, the aux batteries can die, and take the regular battery with it. The forums say to disable it by pulling a fuse, but I haven't done it yet. I also have a program called AlfaOBD that can be used to disable/enable various stuff in CDJR vehicles. I may give that a try.

Would anyone who's not a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram owner even know what that means? I had to look it up!

Yeah, well... Sorry about that. I've owned some sort of... one of those products, on and off, since 2009. And even before that. I didn't even think about it.

Question, what happens with the air conditioning when the engine is stopped? Are you left with warm air from the vents or does it cycle the engine to keep it cool ?

Good question. We've never let ours sit long enough at a stop to tell. Or at least I didn't pay attention. Maybe that's what the aux battery is for - to keep all the accessories running. Obviously the A/C isn't going to cool with the compressor not turning.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 04-21-2024).]

My uncle disliked it on a F150 he rented. He asked me to disable it a day after he got his F150. He's bringing it to a shop for the mounting of the new tires from 4Wheelonline and he'll annoyed at the stop light doing the start/stop.

I had one beside me in traffic the other day and I only noticed because of the constant starter every time we went to roll forward a little bit. I could hear it over my semi, and thought at first it was a vehicle having problems. Looked like a new SUV of some sort. They have to have electric AC pumps or something, other wise you just lose AC everytime it shuts off.
My Prius kills the engine, but has no starter, so you never notice the change from electric motor to gasoline engine. Same with the wife's car. I think the entire start/stop engine thing is a scam for the reasons Ogre put above, but as I get older more and more things seem to be scammy.
