Even in west GA, I frequently see (formerly) "nice" boats for sale for very cheap. A couple of weeks ago I saw a 38'(?) Sea Ray with twin 350s for sale for like $3000. It was in someone's yard, on stacks of cinder blocks. "Needs TLC". Yeah... I'm sure it does. I'll see if the ad is still out there.

That's what I was wondering. But wouldn't the local Sheriff check them out? If nothing else in case there was an accident on board and someone is trapped there.
Also, are they free for the taking, or are there laws that prohibit anyone just grabbing an abandoned boat like the laws on lakes? I know most of them aren't worth having, just wondering.

You and me both. I'll have to find the pictures this weekend and post them, but my daughter and I found a ship (not just a boat) that had run aground "a little," on a sand bar off Merrit Island. It was just sitting there abandoned... I think it ended up there after a hurricane, and there was another boat near it that was basically kind of on it's side. Still in the water, but washed up somewhat on the shore.
Anyway, for lack of pictures... it had to have been about a 150-foot boat. I quickly searched for some boats, and this is about as close as I can get to what it looked like. It was probably from the 1960s I'd say, and the top was mostly all wood (from what I could guess)...

I would love to have a boat like that. I mean, God forbid... the amount of money I'd have to throw into it... let alone just scraping the barnacles off the hull on a regular basis... but keeping the engines running well and not rusting, from repairing all the wood, deck, etc. Not like you can just go to Home Depot and order planks of teak wood. But man, a boat like that would be awesome. If I owned a house in Los Olas (where they have large docks that can moor 1-2 large boats behind your house... I would have all kinds of junky boats docked out there, hahah...

I've heard the same thing said about in-ground swimming pools, except ya don't sell 'em, you fill them in.
