While such a application does sound interesting, I have to ask what any warranty covers? Shingle failure due to damage is probably not covered but, a lot more information is needed before I'd take a $3K risk. Most shingles fail due to wind, hail or just sun damage. What's covered if there is a warranty?

Check with your house insurance before you do it. My insurance has all kind of odd rules. They were going to drop coverage because not all of the shingles were the same color. (You try to find shingles after a hurricane)
