Like many have no clue...
Part of why GM killed the EV1 because was using Lead Batteries, later NiMH, & only can Lease them to keep control of "The Narrative" because of Bad PR When those batteries die. (+ playing politic games to start that project.) IOW EV1 was a Glorified Golf Cart w/ more batteries & bigger motor.
LiIon was supposed to "Save the Word" w/ new EV because is much more Energy Dense then Lead Acid, NiCd, NiMH. Same reason most hated Battery power Tools until High Drain LiIon became "cheap." But Most LiIon EV still can't meet range or weight of ICE equivalent. High Weight eats Tires & more or cost more to make a tire for them. Some May meet the Range but Charging to 100% eats Hours vs 15-20 Gallons pumped in a few Minutes. Charging to 80% in Fast mode still eats way more time then pumping gas or diesel to Full.
Better batteries does not fix the huge problems w/ EV... That's even when you Ignore current EV fires & explosion problems. Just 2 Examples: ● In more & more places when Fleet Operators try switch to EV... They Can't get Permits to install the Chargers because entire Power Grid for that areas can't deliver MW of Electric needed. Even when private owners have a driveway, can have similar problems just because house electric service can't handle Level 2 charging. ● CA govrmt wants EV but Entire State has Brownouts & Blackout problems Now because can't handle Air Con load in summer & that won't change because they killed nearly all old Power Generation & "renewable" will Never = to lost power & can't get more power from other states.
Even in Bidenland that the Hard Left has own the State for Decades has New Gas Stations &/or Remodel Old Stations costing Millions of $. Wawa, Royal Crown & Dash In alone has Open several New Stations just in past couple years w/ 1 open last week w/ 8 or more gas pumps. Wawa open 3 New Stations 2 near & 1 just outside of Rehoboth DE were Biden hides many weekends. Do you really think that any Bank or Company would keep financing them w/o expect them to pay only a few years? No. And they don't see much to any profit w/ EV charging because of low churn of customers vs same # of gas pumps. You can't find E15 or E85 gas in that state too yet Delaware Dealers & others near by sell a lot of Flex Fuel vehicles.

The Cyber Truck does have a cargo compartment bed.
That will be handy to put the gas powered generator set, you are going to need when the power grid can't keep up.
The concept of EV's is great.
The wide spread adoption of the technology is going to have growing pains.

That's what they said back in 2010 when the ill fated Chevy Volt went on sale. 13 years ago. Still saying it today.

One big problem M.J. with the Volt.
Technology with EVs is constantly evolving. The Volt went thru a recall on the batterys, and GM said they were so busy building newer improved batterries for new EV's they did not have time to make old style batteries for the Volt.
I am totally in favour of developing and using EV's, they have many applications.
but I don't think we can just totally replace internal combuston vehicles ad hoc.
Both technologies will have to coexist in the marketplace for a while.

Many Pushing EV have 1 or More ICE vehicles & use them too. Others Like Biden doesn't even have a EV. Worse many push this use Commercial & Private aircraft that generates many times more greenhouse gas that 100 ICE cars per Hour. Air force 1 just for DC to DE & back nearly every week eats entire fuel load for Multiple Diesel Engine Trains. Then add fuel eaten by Marine 1 helo, the multiple "cars" to/from the airports that are all way heavy not just the pres limo, the Air force Cargo plane to carry those vehicles to/from whatever Air force 1 goes, police vehicle to control traffic, 1 or more Marine Ospreys and other aircraft use to carry "The Press" people.

More accurate is EV's will Fit some niches even when EV1 was the current fad & MSM Star Child.
Like People that can charge over night @ home then to go to work/school near them or retired or disable that don't need to drive daily.
But...
When you live anywhere outside of cities & have 10+ miles to nearest town & have to haul 1000-3000 lb or more cargo to customers same distance or more from that town that may not even have power to fast charge... CyberTruck & other Big EV will waste Days or longer per Month in charging time on Level 2 charging pushing 50 amps. Forget about L1 charging for those. For that matter, Many current EV Cars can't full charge over night w/ Level 1 charger too & they have way smaller battery pack.
Any force into street parking often can't "charge @ home" & will quickly have problems. 1. Nearly all cities & more will Not allow anyone to block street parking spots. 2. If you get lucky & park next to home/businesses, anything across a sidewalk is going to have problems w/ Code Enforcement, Get sued because someone got hurt or Both. + you eat any damage done by vandals etc. 3. Public charging is often full of cars or broken. "Call the Cops" because public chargers are full often won't work. Prove It! All you need is how most places Enforce Handicap spots for decades. In most places those signs just a Blue on White Decoration that means Nothing. 4. "Free" or you pay for Charging @ Work has same & may added more issues. (Anything your employer pays for often affects business &/or employee taxes.)
Even when you "charge @ home" car insurance isn't only insurance likely to raise prices. Many I-co's can & soon raise home insurance prices too as more EV burn the home, more when charging @ them. They can & will cancel a home policy because many do not report EV or Charging of same... sim to Insurance Co Retroactively Cancels Coverage After Accident Steve Lehto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5P0UMz7o-E[This message has been edited by theogre (edited 12-03-2023).]

I don't like any of Tesla's designs. To me, at least, they lack a certain finesse that is present in mostly all established auto brands. The cyber truck design esthetic is particularly lame.

I like it. I think it's actually quite cool. It's not for me, yet... because I'm not really in the market for a pickup truck, and I also don't particularly need a new car anyway... but if it was reasonably priced (which I know it isn't), and I needed a pickup truck, I'd definitely consider it.
I think what I like most about it is that it's throwing convention out the window in terms of style. The only modern car company that I know of today that does things that are exceptionally unique and different, is Chrysler. I know GM made the SSR in an attempt to be more like Chrysler, but Chrysler has always made weird and strange cars, and they usually sell pretty well. So I applaud Tesla for creating a vehicle that isn't like everything else out there. They've taken a Brutalist design mentality for their vehicle's aesthetics, and it looks pretty good.
Wondering if we'll see one of these at some point...

If you ignore SciFi books movies & shows. To many, CyberTruck is a relative/ripoff to Total Recall's Robot Taxi & others.
Other "futuristic"/"aero" models from other names are "rip offs" of Gary Anderson UFO cars & other shows. Even the Now Banned Elf 6 wheel race car was a "race legal" version of FAB1 in the Thunderbirds show. (both also on ShoutTV)
Hyper Loop scams, vacuum & car versions, besides rips off of old tube train designs, also rips off Fireball XL5 and other shows & cartoons yet suckers still bought it.

Personal home computers were first introduced in the mid-70's and were still pretty rare 15 years later.
It takes time, but technology will eventually catch up.

Not quite, Often people want Atari 2600 and other console games @ home and still do 50+ years later.
"Cheap" RS 80's and Apple II cost $1000+ for a system that does real work or even just to play many games and few people had that much to tie up in a computer. Later Cheaper Atari 400 & 800, TI 99/4, Sinclair (US Timex), and others didn't sell well for various reasons. Example: Sinclair ZX81 needed 16k RAM box often cost same $ to most things and touch the thing often = crash.
For ~ 20 years, IBM then Clones where never for home use and cost Businesses $2000 to $10,000 per unit. IBM et al labeled as "Personal Computers" only because sit on a desk and not like System 36 etc that weighs hundreds to thousand of pounds & several Tons of AC to work. Even thru 80's & 90's many Enterprises still run "Mainframes" w/ Terminals or PC w/ Terminal Emulation & Hardware to Connect because many still didn't speak TCPIP or even use Ethernet at all. (Many IBM Mainframes Didn't even use Token Ring.) Big Banks & others still have Mainframes running Credit/Debited cards & more.
Most HP/Compaq Dell & Lenovo are sold to Business even now. If fact what fools claim Intel & AMD "Black Box spy" MoBo's are made for Business & Enterprise for managing those systems. W/ the management software IT workers can do way more or work on machines w/ iffy CPU RAM and other parts dead before wasting time walking/driving to another office.
IOW Home PC have only been a very tiny fraction of sales to nearly all of "PC" every made.
Most later only had PC @ home because only way to get online. PC sales have drop and still dropping more because... For Home even very cheap smart phones can watch YT FB, play games, etc. For Business, a lot of Enterprise have switch to Thin/Cloud systems that not longer have PC on most desks for 10+ years now. IOW Many "Fortune 500" & others don't buy 10's to 100's of Thousands of PC every year or 3.
Thin/Cloud clients on the desk are "dumb" things & very cheap connects to HPE Blade Servers etc that are "the PC" the users actually run whatever software. @ the time, we had 4 Thins clients running in every CPU core on a Blade that have several multi core CPU. Remote Users simply run a client emulator or use net book (sim to near useless chrome books) then connect to the Blade Server via VPN. This is why people that work for big companies kept working thru "The Virus."
