Sir, my issue isn't favoring one time over the other, I really don't care which one we're on, I simply find the need to go back and forth a huge waste of time and effort plus that lost hour of sleep.

I actually thought the time change had to do with farmers and harvesting....But looking it up I find A) It was originally suggested in the US by Benjamin Franklin- mainly to save candles and such! And B) The Romans were doing it 2000 years ago.....Now I feel Schmarter!

The provincial government here in BC on the west coast of Canada decided ages ago to abolish these twice a year time changes... but we're waiting for Washington State, Oregon, and California to get their act together. Apparently, not having the time synchronized all up and down the coast would have negative trade ramifications. Let's get it done!

Dealing with those three states, all I can say is Good Luck With That.

It never bothered me one way or another. I got up at the same time (internal clock) and went to bed the same way or much later. Dark don't bother me.
As my wife recently told me "You've done some of your best work way into the night and well before the sun came up"

DST doesn't work in GPS & NPT. Only when some devices support Local DST will the time charge.
Side Note: Many w/ GPS Dash Cams need to either turn off DST or "add" -1 Hour today to have correct time. Example: Eastern DST -4 but EST is -5.
DST is not US/Canada issue. That's why whatever device support Local DST. This is why Windows & others have so many Time Zones because X country uses DST or not, if uses often have different dates to switch. In old Windows Update plans was many updates to Time Zones because other countries often changes dates often "at a whim" but now "hidden" in Windows monthly roll ups.
US Already Tried to Stop DST switching & was Hated by many & Carter Admin cancel that plan fast. In turn why they only move the Dates a bit in 2007.

BS ● Because BC has a Tiny Fraction of population vs. the rest & most won't care about anything in Canada. Even if some Greenies want this, WA & OR is far enough North & many Do Not want DST all year there & will fight that plan. ● Already have to deal doing Business across TZ whether has Local DST or Not to buy Air Flights or even just to setup Meetings. I've work in Big Banks that have Offices & Branches in every North American & way more TZ's. We had to make sure Windows' TZ updates are installed because of this because Office etc also needs that data for 30+ years to setup meeting around the World.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. Ogre, I appreciate your Fiero knowledge in the tech threads... but in this case you haven't got a freakin' clue what you're talking about.
What the heck is "BS" about anything I stated? You don't think there's been any discussion in Washington State, Oregon, and/or California in regards to permanent DST?
| quote | Originally published Here:
In 2019, Oregon and Washington decided to take a page out of Arizona's book by eliminating the time change, but lawmakers instead passed a bill to keep both states on the daylight saving time schedule year-round — in other words, the summer schedule would also be in effect for the winter.
California has been a bit in limbo, even though the original goal was for all three West Coast states to change together. California voters passed a proposition in 2018 giving the state legislature the power to make daylight saving time permanent, but then the legislature sat on the issue.
As adopted, Oregon's bill actually relies on both Washington and California signing on before making the switch.
