Looking for a good corded string Weed trimmer - w/ bump feed (Page 2/2)

Well I can recommend a battery powered bump feed, I know you want corded but I've had such good luck with this machine I have to recommend it. The 80v Greenworks string trimmer is amazing. I get a lot of run time out of the 2.0 AH battery, and recharging only takes 10-15 minutes.

what I guess from top post...

Many 18-20V weed cuter will to that. (20v is close to Peak Volts on a Full Change Battery. 18v or 20v is marketing bs.)
Just often don't want smallest ones.

Example: In Ryobi many should avoid P2030 & P2003BTL very basic tool.
But P2008BTL & other works for many.
P2008BTL can use 0.065" & 0.080" string because heavier motor (& dual speed w/ variable trigger.) but many other only want 0.065 in. The wheel makes easier edging when have to edge more then a few feet.

If don't want easy edging then P20150 many work & have same 11 or 13" cutting width & 0.080" string. HD had wrong manual linked so can't look up more info. (Can likely use 0.065" too so can use up old string etc.)

Ryobi has so many models but some I have has been discontinued...

While many come w/ 2AHr battery, often weed cutters and more drain them fast.

You have a blower too?
HD has bundles w/ cutter, blower, 4AHr battery & charger plus 3 extra spools online to order. Model# P2035-AC
I have same blower, Work good & have variable speed.

It looks like it has everything I like, will work with all of my attachments and is only $180.

Is the speed control good? Can it go really slow? I like slow because it doesn't kick up rocks and the string lasts a lot longer.

I wouldn't have to buy gas and rebuild the carb every year.

yes that or very similar
hi is mostly too hard / fast as it will eat in to trees ad said 10k rpm ?
the low range has control not real fine but useable on most weeds

Thanks for all the responces, I decided to try the Black & Decker w/ button string advance.

I used yesterday, it's very powerful, the triming & edgeing work great. I edged both driveways and trimed the yard very quickly.

Best of all, I can use the 4 spools I bought for the old trimmer.

It's 48" long, I'm 6'2" , don't need to bend over.

Starting to look for a new one myself now. My old stihl has carb trouble --not getting gas (It's NOT the purge bulb, filter or cracked fuel lines)
I'm not real comfortable with using 100' cord...how much voltage drop that far away from an outlet?.

100' 14awg is rated to handle 10a normally.
most Weed cutters pulls < 7a. above B&D is 6.5a

Large problem is most Ex-cords are made very cheap now & plugs are crap causing most issues even fires.
obvious metal is often weak as you plugin but that metal is "crimped" to wire poorly & that point is why plugs get hot.

You often see plugs on small heaters getting hot for same reason. Worse, many think is normal but mean something wrong w/ product or ex-cord or "wall" socket.

Pulling < 8a should see that but watch for it.

If needed, plug a short cord & listen to sound. plug the long cord. does sound stay the same? sound level or tone is different then long cord has problems.

Anything B&D unit above can cut... Many 18-20v cordless ones can = that or better.

After having the carb apart 1/2 doz times on my Stihl weedeater, I reassembled one last time, pulled the rope and it started but once again, ran for about 2 seconds and promptly flooded out and fouled the plug. Took it, all the stuff that went with it, along with a dang mankiller manual edger and some other stuff, set out all out on the curb put a FREE! sign on it and 10 minutes later some Korean guy drove up and loaded it all up.

I didn't buy it at Lowes but I do have this now.

I already had a EGO mower and this powerhead came with the same charger and 56V battery my mower uses. As a weedeater, it doesn't have quite the power the gas Stihl had but it'll do me here in subdivisionland. The edger tho, works like a dream!!!!!
