I95 Closed at Cottman Ave, Philly PA (Page 2/3)
82-T/A [At Work] JUN 19, 07:54 AM
I had to look twice at this because I thought to myself... wait, I-95 goes through Philadelphia? ... and then I remembered that every time I've gone through it, like Richmond VA, I always take the 295 to bypass it. People passing through will be fine, because they can always take I-95... but people in Philly will need to take the streets... I'm sure at this point they've already shut down smaller streets and diverted the highway traffic through it.

Sorry, Doesn't work like that...
All that take other routes to by pass the F'd bridge Cost Money and/or Time. Often a lot of Both.

Rt1 and 95 South is a Major Truck Route from NYC and above to almost anyplace south because of Bridge Tolls alone. Used to be Both ways more when all Bridges had 2 way Tolls. And That's ignoring NJTP is only other "thruway" DE - NYC for Trucks and Buses. (Is why Many Companies may take NJTP north but Rt1 and 95 south because depending on Fuel Cost may save total $ per trip.)

Look Bridge Tolls for Commercial and other Vehicles not in "Car" class.
5 axle Semi crossing DMB is $35.00 plus eats fuel crossing to NJ and back. Can get Higher Toll w/ more axles and other issues.
https://www.delawarememorialbridge.com/toll-rates

For "Local" bridge across De River tolls are same or worse cost.
BRB and others under DRPA control starts $5 for "Cars" but 5 axle is $37.50
https://www.drpa.org/travel/toll-schedule.html

Plus some bridges stops traffic often for ship traffic... Tacony-Palmyra Bridge & Burlington-Bristol Bridge

You have to cross at Trenton to get Low Toll on Rt1 or cross free on local bridges.
Rt1 toll 5 axle is $22.50 EZpass $25 Cash.

Drive on the Surface Streets either in PA or NJ 130 have big problems too and eat time and fuel. If Trucks are Permitted for Weight, Width, HAZMAT, etc, then they often Can't use the Street Detours for various reasons. Some trailers like low beds just can't use them regardless of permits. Same and more reason most can't/won't "jump" 295 - NJTP @ R73 exits even tho can save NJTP toll $ and ignore 295 has nasty habit of big backups at R42 because NJDOT still has not finish joining 2 section there. (That issues made worse by Contractors not building new road right and collapse before done some years ago now.)

Blocking Side Street and more may make Detour traffic flow "better" but are big headaches for locals and cost local business big $ in many ways.

E2A---> When you add NJTP in your math...
C5 5 axle from Lincoln Tunnel to DMB is $70.85 or 2 axle Bus is $22.25 and part of why they use Rt1 & 95.

Ogre, do you know what they are using for the "walls" visible on the Live Cam feed? If I didn't know better (and I don't), it looks like stacked railroad ties.

There's got to be more than that, right? I'm sure they have some sort of tiebacks in there somewhere.

Do you mean the "wall" holding the "foam glass?"

You had to see it installed at different times to see how it works.
I say different times because not easy to tell what's going on every time they start a new layer. Sometimes you get "luckly" w/ guy w/ tube "foaming" the edge to see it happen.

In short...
I think you see the "foam" showing thru the metal or whatever "cages" that came "folded up" in a truck before installed loaded w/ foam.
"Panels" Didn't seem very heavy so maybe some type of composite/"plastic" instead of steel. But then normal Chain Link Fence can often be handled by 1 to 3 people...

Each "cage" w/ wall has bottom layer along w/ big flat sections of same "rebar fence" used between the "wall" sections.

For those that missed all... Besides above, They ran 2 "bobcat" type small crawlers and other smaller things to compress/pack the foam as conveyors install it.

Right now 6ABC is using the camera they installed first day on SB side of the gap.
Stopped all foaming and most everyone seem have gone too. Just mini digger w/ hammer head a few others to knocking off old metal etc to clean edges of old road. (No clue what other w/ hammer head is doing just breaking concrete on the roadway.) Now another digger is picking up "trash" on other side. (They move a lot so this part likely make no sense by time people read...)

Again no data what they plan to top then pave.
Even watching news w/ aero pic/vid the foam section seems too narrow to have 3 lanes each way by itself. Maybe something else on top to widen some then pave.

Note: I believe "Rain For Rent" is a "tank" trailer full of sand etc to filtering iffy "water" before goes down the sewers.

https://www.511pa.com/ is PennDOT road data including Traffic Cameras.
Had camera listed above plus highway cam there mounted on a pole.
Click Camera in left menu then zoom in on area.

This site only allow 1 minute of view time then force to reset.

Twitter cam link is no longer live but shows 60+ hours so can watch the fill operation works from the start.

Currently their Filling more space and pole mount cam show conveyor top view w/ "Foam glass" flowing.
PennDOT side cam also shows big prefab concrete "squares" I guess for the top.

what?

The concrete "square" are the top layer. watch video feeds above.

"Big" Update is said the new lanes will be OPEN for this Weekend.

The concrete "Square" are...
"Squares" put a lot of concrete at bottom and shaped as "anchors" to bury w/ foam and asphalt. Some concrete added too. (C-mixer truck is there at post time.)
Then about top 1/2 in a "Jersey Wall" for sides.

While 6ABC camera shows some back sides of the "squares" right now to give a clue of road side shape, once the "squares" are finish in next Minutes, you won't be able to see much if anything on cameras showing side views. (Only 3 remaining at post time. took about 15-20 minutes each to install others.)

Unless they move, Only the "pole camera" at 511PA can see the top view.
theogre JUN 21, 10:37 AM
Still pic showing the Road Side of the "Squares."

Zoomed w/ 3rd party SW.

Video for same camera is "down" right now so can't grab a bigger/better pic.

View think Another permanent Camera there...

(Many permanent cameras rotate and shows different areas at whatever time you view.)
