The wing on the decklid of the notchback GT smoothed the airflow and actually reduced the Cd by a point or three. Had to have helped the fuel consumption, at least a bit. This was from the Pontiac SD race car magazine (whatever it was called.)

There are also better engines you can put in there as well. I had really good fuel economy with my LD9 Twin Cam engine that I had in my 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE and also my GT (same year). The engine has more power than the V6 Fiero engine, a significantly higher RPM, and when dropped in the Fiero... will automatically have more horsepower and performance due to the shortened exhaust length and lighter vehicle. Even if you did absolutely nothing to the engine, you can expect mid-30s on the highway with the 4T60E or a 5-Speed manual (or even a 6-speed manual) in there.

Had a friend who was a huge fan of the LD9 many years ago. Factory super charger kit with bigger drive pully and some sort of cam switch. Never had it on a dyno but it pulled hard for such a small engine. He was limited by the lack of an intercooler, but was talking about an ethanol spray kit. Unfortunately he got married and that was end of the project.

There is one way to know. Do it.

I just came up with another energy saving idea.
I am going to put a windmill on top of my electric car so it will charge itself as I drive.

Perhaps replace it with a steam engine and use hot air.

Only....Drive....Down.....Hill......
By the way- for bike riders, I am trying to invent a hill that is downhill on both sides...Or both die-rections...Something like that....If I am suck-cessful I will make millions!
