Back in the sixties, my Uncle had sent me a telescope for Christmas....I had it focused on the moon while one of the Apollo missions was there- They announced on the radio that "They are now firing the rocket to exit moon orbit" and I saw a flash at the terminator.....
Looking back, I don't know if you'd see anything from these rockets (Short of looking up the pipe)....I was stationed on the USS Coral Sea- COD crew so working on the flightdeck....The only time you would see light at night from jet engines was when they went into AB.
There is a possibility that what I saw was a small meteor flaring at that moment.....But I have always considered that seeing that proved "They were There"....
Note; Apparently, India has sent a probe to lunar orbit that took a picture that shows one the lander decent stages.....

Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon) French hotties in leotards, strutting their stuff in Victorian era Paris, flipping the wigs of prudes around the world by 1904 ! The Wright Brothers had not yet flown their motorized flying machines. Horse drawn carriages still the means of transport for the planet, coal fired steam engines on rails and the sea was the height of technology. The Moon ! That's preposterous ! That's insane ! Robert Goddard had an idea, ' What if we set off a rocket ? '
