Small ¾ hp portable air compressor problem (Page 2/2)

I decided to run a camera down inside the tank, to check for rust.

Does anyone have any opinions?

Not external switch that sets max pressure and trips the bleed/blowoff valve in many compressors.

Even if the 32 switch is new, can have iffy start coil and fail to start right.

Thanks. That explains why there are no capacitors. That #32 is the contact assembly for a centrifugal switch which probably engages the starter windings. I will take it back apart and give it a closer look and clean the contacts.

Is 1 - 3 gal portable tank, yes?
Surface rust on inside won't bother it.
Most small portable tanks are "over built" so can take some abuse w/o blowing up.

Unless you use them a lot in humid areas, most won't see enough water inside to rust fail like YT videos.

Would invest in an inline filter. Just to keep from spraying the inside of your computer with rust and moisture.

Yes, I think it is maybe a 3 gal tank. The compressor has been in the desert since new, so mostly very low humidity.

Wel,l it looks okay for airing up tires. I see rust.

I was educated to use an aerosol air blower to purge the interior of a computer of dust and keep out moisture.

Yeah, Arizona is a dry heat. Where did that rust come from ?

Would this work?:
code:

# remove contaminants
result=filter(clean,air)

Most of them do the same thing, its a good idea to have something.
When I was in Florida water was a big issue, probably not so much in Arizona
