I am impressed with Darth's model RR set up.
I wanted to set up a model railroad (nowhere near as impressive as yours) that was mounted to the wall up about 7.5 feet off the floor going all the way around the upstairs "Man Cave". I don't want to give up that much floor space and don't have the patience to build nor the funds to buy all that scenery. And, it'll take about 100 ft. of track to go all the way around that upstairs room with support structures screwed to the studs every 16 inches. Other priorities have kept that on the back burner but, maybe someday.
Edited: This thread motivated me to go and actually measure how much track I would need to circumvent the upstairs "Man Cave". Make that 174 ft of track. Hmmm.........

Just perusing thru different places, I see the hobby has gotten quite expensive, just for the cars and track...the prime movers, even more.

I never had a layout, but I was a member of this club that has an enormous HO scale layout: http://emrrc.net/ However my interest has waned over the last 15-20 years or so and I've sold off most of what I had that was valuable. The increasing need to use reading glasses to do anything as I got older was part of it.

This I can relate to............... But, that doesn't mean I intend to quit having fun. Just have to stand closer.
