Tampa and Florida peeps... how's everyone doing? (Page 2/5)

With power outages being a concern, dont forget to stock up on extra charge-up's for those electric cars.

Randye, I'm over in the fancy Fishhawk area with all the transplants.

Heh.

No. You're in Karen Land.

The amusement park that we built to keep them close to the outlet malls on I-75

You're just south of the old phosphate strip mine pits near Brandon on Hwy. 60 and you're just east of Gibsonton, the old winter home of travelling carnival workers.

Anyway, you'll be just fine there. The hurricane force wind field of this one is relatively compact for it's intensity.
You might get a sh*t ton of rain tonight and maybe 45 - 65 mph wind gusts but if your power lines hold up you should be cozy enough.

The guy that I really have concern for is CoolBlue87GT.
He lives in Port Charlotte and he got hit very hard by Hurricane Charley in 2009. The folks down there had to rebuild everything.

Define Irony.
Hurricane Ian hit the island nation of Cuba hard and the whole country is without power and lights with one glaring exception.
The US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay.

The Cayman Islands, which also got really hammered hard by this storm, still has their lights on.

That is also a remarkably clear photo considering the huge amount of cloud cover from this storm.

Clean-up from the storm yesterday.

Seriously though, I pray that others fared well.
We skated by just on the edge of the worst winds. Highest gusts we saw were briefly around 45 - 50 mph.
Power never even flickered but less than 1 mile east of me, (inland), they lost power for about 5 hours.

Saw that old bastard Pretendadent Brandon on local TV today trying act like he's here to rescue everyone now......after his refusing to call Governor DeSantis to coordinate for several days leading up to the storm.

Stay safe. I got extra bedrooms for any needing a safe place.

Currently, have one family staying at my place from FL, they plan to try and go back home Monday or Tuesday to see what's left.

There are things I'd like to have, beach front property is not one of them.

Edited: Prepare yourselves, the price of lumber and fuel are about to go back up.

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun.........

Hope they get the power restored quickly. Looks like the utitity companies and their mutual aid agreement partners are ready.

That is a small view of the staging area in Sumterville, just a bit Northeast of me. It's one of several scattered around central Florida right now.

Here is a larger view of it.....amazing.
