I do like ray's idea of copper, it would be very period correct. I just can't find copper tubing large enough to scale correctly. But if you're okay with a small diameter tank, polished or brushed and clear coated would be awesome.
Maybe the proper paint job on the plastic?

Can you imagine the weight of even a pony keg?
This project looks out of hand. Less is more comes to mind.

Getting all that stuff to fit and clearance to operate is a challenge. I had to take the thumb throttle (electric one) off the bars today. Got it running and went for a ride, and it is just too tight. Works fine sitting still, not so much so bouncing around on the road.
Need more room to be comfortable too. Even setback saddle isnt going to do it so now I am looking around for a Banana seat and sissy bar. 100 bucks on Amazon and I am not real impressed with them, so I might end up making my own.
This whole thing is "figure it out as I go" since it has drifted so far from the original plan.

I dunno...just a test seat from scrap I tossed together in an hour. Coffin shape.

You will not get the "vintage" look with the motor sitting so high in the frame.
Think "Steam Punk". Use a disposable propane tank like a Coleman or Bernzomatic. Maybe even two tanks side by side, one for reserve. Connect them with some curly stainless tubing and a clear glass filter.
