Mine did not. I checked RSSI values at the time. Sorry I can't remember all we did trying to get the best signal. I am sure it is item and site specific. Ours didn't matter or was negligible.

I would expect it doesn't matter as long as you keep the horizonal plane the same.
Look for a wifi analyzer app for your phone or laptop and it will help you position the antenna for best coverage. I always mount the antenna/device on a pole so I can move it around until I find the sweet spot then mount it. This also works great for positioning new security cameras.
