On the topic of this thread...
I had the unique opportunity a couple months ago... to time travel... in two different directions.
I had mentioned Here that I had contacted a girl whom I had dated back in 1980, and hadn't seen or had any association with for the last 42 years. At the time, she was 18 and I was 24.
We arranged to meet for coffee. When I walked into the cafe, I had no idea what to expect. I realized that for the two of us, it was like travelling into the future, and seeing what each other would look like in 42 years. I was pleased that I immediately recognized her, and she looks rather well preserved for a now 60 year old woman. Of course, I haven't changed a bit... still a fine specimen at age 66.
Once we started talking though, we were then going back in time, as we were discussing events of 42 years in the past. It was really weird. She described it as "trippy". I have to agree! Anyway, it was pretty cool.

It is astonishing how a small event like that became a 'defining moment' in young Adolf's life. And looking at his prospects, who could have projected that he would become a leader of anything, let alone the most scientifically advanced country of the day?
I really liked The Time Machine (2002), and how they handled the paradox attached to preventing the fiancée's death ...
