Why was that truck spraying water ? Are you sure it was water ?
I got stopped one time for emptying water from tow tank while on an interstate. Someone called in on me and law dogs found me. |

While riding my Valkyrie once, I was following an RV and could smell the "stuff" leaking out of his waste tank. I did avoid the "stuff" he was leaching out onto the highway. Being honest, there are free roadside stations to dump that "crap". I really didn't appreciate the situation. Oh, I waved the guy down and told him when he slowed and opened his window. He just shook his head and said, I know. I motored on past him and made a point of staying ahead of him until he disappeared.

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun.........

Interesting solution to SMOG. Not knocking it at all. They've moved some of the unhealthy contaminants from the air to the ground water. There is always a price to pay, I wonder what that is in this case.

Occurs naturally every time it rains, which happens a lot here in the Pacific Northwest. Normally, I don't wish for rain... but during the summer forest fire season, which has been really bad on the entire west coast the last few years, I look forward to the cloud bursts. Really cuts down on the smoke in the air.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 06-09-2022).]

Notorio- Years ago I decided to go boating on New Melones reservoir......When I arrived at my buddy's house in Sonora, he told me that for the last week a Martin Mars water bomber had been on the lake- but had just left to fly back to BC.

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!
(My Father worked on the Martin Mars at NAS Alameda when the Mars were still in Navy service)[This message has been edited by cvxjet (edited 06-10-2022).]

I've always referred to planes that land on water as floatplanes (and I see them almost everyday flying over my neighborhood), so I was curious what the difference might be between floatplanes and seaplanes. Found a good explanation Here.
| quote | The terms floatplane and seaplane are used interchangeably in some countries, but technically have different meanings.
Both a floatplane and a seaplane can take-off from, and land on, water such as oceans, seas, rivers, and gulfs. Both can transport people or supplies. A floatplane is technically a type of seaplane.
Flying Boat Seaplane An often referred to type of seaplane is a "flying boat" which is built around a single hull which serves as the plane’s floating body/fuselage. A flying boat takes off from and lands on its belly. The term flying boat is less common as of late but is still referenced in official documentation and definitions. Often when people say seaplane, they mean flying boat.
Floatplane On the other hand, a floatplane is also referred to as a "pontoon plane." Instead of a hull that can land on water, a floatplane has floats or pontoons which serve as the surfaces to land on and take off from, as is the case for the Viking Twin Otter when it has float landing gear in place. The hull/body/fuselage of a floatplane is not intended to touch the water.

I have seen both ends of a rainbow and for a minute or so, it was close enough for me to put my hand through itt. My wife and I were visiting her cousins on Maui and took a morning trip up to the Haleakalā Volcano on Maui 2017. I noticed that a rainbow was forming in the clouds in the crater below us. I moved to what appeared to a position on the walkway under an observation office at the very end of where a fence dead ends at the edge of the crater. Eventually this rainbow moved right up to the edge of the crater, literally only several feet from me. I could see both ends of the rainbow which ended a few feet away, at the crater. In the lower left of one of the images, you see the cement edge of the observation area and in another, the railing. I switched to video to capture both end because I could not go wide enough with my then Galaxy S4 phone. I also could not back up to expand the field of capture (against a rock wall). It was truly spectacular. In the video I am able to pan the whole rainbow which was probably about ten feet wide before the atmospheric conditions dissipated it.
