Two cartoon shows that were head and shoulders above anything else during their time were "Pinky and the Brain" and the original "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" including "Fractured Fairy Tales", "Aesop and Son" and "Peabody's Improbable History".
Each was a masterpiece of inside humor and obscure references which were aimed squarely at well read, informed adults. Both had political and cultural humor that was way over the heads of the young audience which had to be their primary audience. These shows proved that comedy does not have to be mean or obscene.
As a kid, I actually learned things from "Rocky and Bullwinkle". They were not trying to impose any ideology, but I learned a few things about history and literature. Who knew a couple of anthropomorphic critters could be such sneaky bastards.

Of particular irony, in light of the current controversy in Florida, is the point that Disney was considered the more “family friendly” of the two studios.

Kinda like Apple vs. Microsoft. It's amazing how cut throat things get when new industries emerge. Fellow 'Americans' doing anything and everything for total control.
History Channel Series: The Cars that Built America The Food that Built America The Men that Built America
It's the same thing.
Then you've got those who have no clue about industry and innovation, play that same game involving rival countries and their forms of gov/economics: Politicians. Except the latter get many killed for 'sport'

Pretty much anything written by Michael Maltese. The man had a wonderful track record of pushing stories and animation well beyond where anybody else was comfortable being.
Pair him up with Chuck Jones as director and you had a lethal combination!
The long list of cartoons written by Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones include these well known classics...
Hare Trigger (which introduced Yosemite Sam) Duck Amuck Baseball Bugs Rabbit of Seville Feed the Kitty One Froggy Evening What's Opera, Doc? Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century For Scent-imental Reasons - 1949 Academy Award winner[This message has been edited by otakudude (edited 04-24-2022).]

Racist today? Sure, but in my humble opinion words only have power if you allow them to. I always just liked the little ditty. I had no idea it was racist. In fact, I hadn't seen it since a child and didn't even realize he was saying "injun".
2nd favorite. Because it had a cuss word and well, TMNT!
