Which 357 cartridge is your round of choice?

My favorite revolver was a Colt Trooper I used to own. 8" barrel and a little practice made it a very accurate weapon. Sold it for a semi-auto 9 mm S&W. I actually prefer the semi-auto but, to each their own.

I'm with you on carry guns/capacity. I'm looking at revolvers as more of a deer hunt capable unit. Schooling myself on the Smith and Wesson 686 and Ruger GP100. Any of yours longer barrels? I've seen where the 357 isnt super different in fps between 4.2 and 6 inch barrel. But the longer sight radius would as usual likely help with accuracy. |

These two specific Pythons are the shorter barrel configuration. The factory sights are still installed (did add a red insert to one front sight blade) and quite adequate for me. I do not normally carry these revolvers for protection but have occasionally used one of them for short range hog hunting.

I think we have 50 or 60 in the safe. Heavy. I have had them from factory with a broken pin. I lore my 45 ACP 10+1 Taurus. Cheap and affective. A revolver that doesn't fire is greater than a knife in my experience though.

Yeah, I know there's a difference between being out in the field and home defense but, (to be honest with you) if you have to defend yourself, does it really matter? If I have to defend myself with a weapon, my intent would be as a survivor.

YES.
Heavy is good. If it doesn't work hit them with it.
-Snatch.
Ron, I am going to check out that list. I doubt I change up what works for me, but I like a good read.
Found my old Gloxk 20 in 10MM the other day. Threaded barrel. No idea why I ever even got the dang thing. I have a 40/S&W too and don't like either.

Thanks. I have yet to hear of a reliable Diamonback DB9, must have been some marketing going on there, wouldnt use that for more than practice / fun. But yeah. If I had to go with one gun for larger critters and defense in one it'd likely be a semi auto 10mm. Specifically I'm personally looking at revolvers, decent for hunting, like the versatility of the 38 spl and 357 combo guns, and don't like the affordability and relative scarcity of 44 mag.

Funny the Glock 20 is on that list. 10MM is a heck of a cartridge. 1200FPS though kind off defeats the point of it being threaded for a can though, I would think.

Never had a problem with my DB9. It's my edc and every couple of months I empty the mag into a target to make sure it would have worked if needed, clean and reload. Also carry a LCP when the DB won't fit in the pocket of the pants worn at the time. Springfield XDS .45 inside waistband when heading to the bad part of town.
