It looks like it's coming down to "Who Blink(en)s First"
"Blinken Trades Warnings With Russia’s Lavrov Over Ukraine, NATO"

I've been waiting since the day that he was confirmed as U.S. Secretary of State, for the right moment.

To gain what, is my answer. Russia knows Biden isn't in control of his administration and isn't setting policy.

Doesn't matter who's the captain of the USS America, the ship steers pretty much the same way, maybe every few years, you'll see some minor deviation one way or the other, but the course is laid in by a buncha other folks, heads of corporations, lobbyists, Aliens and of course, those Reptile guys...The US sitting at the world family table is like a dude with multiple personailty disorder or schizoid or whatever. Changes their mind every 4-8 years or so...like a Kardashian or something...constantly looking backwards and trying to bust folks and anticipating the next thing to be completely divided over (Spoiler alert: 2022's thing will be Abortion, yay) It sure would be nice if those world leaders could all agree on a few common things like stop messin' with the rain forests and trying to invade their neighbors and such.
Its frustrating and absolutely ridiculous.

Kardashians and the lizard people are one and the same...
| quote | Biology The Kardashian appear to have evolved from a creature with both reptilian and mammalian traits. Standing roughly 1.8 meters tall, Kardashians tend to possess gray or grayish-green skin tones with shiny, black hair. Members of the race are barrel-chested and slightly heavier than Humans, a result of Kardashia's thicker atmosphere and slightly higher gravity. Elongated vertebrae covered in scaly plate sections extend along their necks. Segmented brow ridges extend down from the forehead and circle the eyes, giving them a slightly "hooded" look reminiscent of a Terran cobra. An unsegmented ridge known as chufa extends upward from the tip of the nose to a spoon-shaped protrusion in the center of the forehead. Their thick skins and tough bodies allow Kardashians to tolerate pain better than most other species which meant that they possessed a higher pain threshold.
The head and torso has an array of prominent ridges which are of cartilage construction and evolved as a defense against predatory attack. These ridges grow more prominent as young Kardashians develop through adolescence. Kardashians are a species which have many features common to both mammals and reptiles, their skin is only scaled around their ridges and females have breasts or breast like protrusions on their chests. Kardashsians have straight hair that varies in color from jet black to the less common dark brown. Males typically slick their hair back, while the females have more varying hairstyles. Unbetrothed Kardashian females have a cosmetic blue coloration in the dip of skin between ridges on their foreheads. |

China still considers Taiwan to be Chinese territory. Just a few wayward kids who haven't been brought back into the family. Taiwan isn't a threat to China so I see them trying to sweet talk Taiwan into voluntarily joining with the PRC. China will slowly take over Taiwan like ivy growing on a house. Just my .02. Take it quick because with inflation it's heading towards .01

Is it true that Taiwan has never declared formal independent country status, or at least hasn't been recognized as such by typical world bodies?

correct.
The real sticking point is that there has never been a signed treaty transferring 'ownership' of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China. It's on that basis that the current occupants of Taiwan claim they are (or should be) a nation independent of the RoC, now known as the PRC.
The allies at the end of ww2 simply gave RoC 'control' of Taiwan but never made arrangements to make it legal/binding within the international community of nations..[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 12-06-2021).]
