Tomorrow night, we will cycle to some very good music favored by a very bad man. Everyone knows one part, but this will be the last part, the end of heaven and earth in fire and flood. Does that ring a bell?

If my guess is correct that was a very obvious clue and my cold Scandinavian heart will be pleased even though my people's mythology got "Dicked" by the composer and his notorious fan.

Night #4: Wagner - Brünnhilde's Immolation
The last part of the ring cycle (usually the forth night) is called “Götterdämmerung”, the finale of which is referred to as Brünnhilde's immolation, where she throws herself onto (or more authentically, rides into) Siegfried’s funeral pyre.
This is a strikingly different presentation, but I like it.

I like it too.
I saw this entire Ring performance some years ago in it's entirety and I love it for several reasons.
1. It was staged and performed in the Opera hall, (Bayreuth Festspielhaus) that Wagner himself built in Bayreuth, Germany and I have had the pleasure of attending a performance of Tannhäuser there.
2. This particular production has amazing stage sets and costumes.
3. Although it isn't in the original Norse mythology or in Wagner's Der Ring des Niebelungen, I really like the final scene imagery of a "reborn" Sigurd and Brynhildr joining hands, giving a brief look back to Wotan (father of the Valkyries and the main character in the first part of the Ring series, "Rheingold"), and then walking offstage (into the future).[This message has been edited by randye (edited 10-22-2021).]

Night #5: Squirrel Nut Zippers - The Ghost of Stephen Foster
The opening segment is a nod to Cab Calloway and the video as a whole is a tribute to Max Fleischer.
Cab Calloway and Max Fleischer from around 90 years ago:
...and a couple more Max Fleischer cartoons:
This is what Saturday morning cartoons looked like when we were kids. No wonder we are so screwed up, huh?

That's quite an eclectic range there.
From squirrel nut zippers to pretty deep in the "classical" weeds of Wagner, Berlioz and Verdi.
