And those who spend countless hours bickering political stuff on here aren't really doing anything to help the situation. Not a single soul is swayed by your so-called "wisdom". Might as well have your hands down below "servicing your leaky pipes". To think you are doing anything more than that is just foolin' yerself.
Its downright tiresome. lately, when I gather the energy to click open a thread, I'm never surprised to see the same half dozen guys with the same old tired "back and forth". And so, it continues... ad nauseum. |

I didn't put the "Ed Yong" article on display here to make any kind of political statement.
I'm certain that it is a reasonably relevant response to what MEM started here, when he made the opening bid (so to speak) on this "Vaxxed MORE likely to end up in hospital" discussion. A potentially valuable contribution (from me) to this discussion, if anyone actually looks at the analysis by the aforementioned Ed Yong, or even if they just read my very brief comments about the article. That's potential value, realized. Like a (small) stock market investment that nets a profit. A capital gains.

Exactly.
The wife and I aren't "anti-Vaxxers" at all. We are trying to get any information we can on the vaccines so we can decide what to do. She is in the "high risk" category, and quite frankly I'm fat. She was in a coma last year and almost didn't make it. She came out with heart problems and breathing issues.
We want to make an informed decision. We aren't the types to just do anything because someone else does it. Her doctor and my doctor share an office. My doctor wants everyone to get the vaccine, her doctor said she should wait, and (cough cough) diet and exercise a bit more.
The media isn't trustworthy at all on either side. The Government is less trustworthy than the media if that's even possible. I can look up a story regarding the vaccine, and find another story without even digging that tells an opposite story. I don't know if the utter confusion is on purpose. I doubt the Government can gets its collective crap together enough to create this level of misinformation on its own, but the larger media groups have been caught collaborating on the whole C-Vid thing creating fake news stories. I have no doubt that the smaller media on the Right does a similar thing. The CDC changes its mind constantly, and I've lost the very little faith I ever had in any of the Alphabet Agencies.
Put simply, this level of ignorance should be embarrassing in this era. We have the world at our fingertips, and still can't get reliable information.

We know someone who was negatively impacted mentally due to a "typical" vaccine, because it was from a "bad batch".
'Quality control" is an issue, especially with the ones that need to remain at "super-cool" temperatures...

Holy **** man, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm so glad that she did come out of it. At the end of the day, we all argue and complain (I mean, you and I don't), but health and well being is the most important thing. I hope you and her are both doing well man...

We are living life as well as we can. We're trying to take advantage of any time God has given us on this earth, and seriously trying to ignore the things we can't control and just be a family while we can. I had started making funeral arrangements on the advice of the doctors when she suddenly pulled out of it. You know you are in trouble when the Hospital Priest contacts you.
She had heart failure, and her lungs are scarred up now. She came out of the coma with Diabetes due to something involving the medication they had her on, but she worked on things and is off all that now. Her heart is doing good, but she still has breathing problems.
Her Uncle died the other day from Covid related. Him and his wife caught it somehow. Both of them had been locked in the house and had refused to see anyone for over a year because they were scared of getting it. They had groceries delivered and didn't even let their kids visit. Both of them got sick and went to the hospital. He had some sort of living will that said no breathing/feeding tube etc. and was allowed to die. She made it and is off the tube now... We have no idea how either of them caught anything, they seriously had locked themselves in the house for a year like hermits. Everything was delivery and they were retired and didn't have to go anywhere. We all think he would be fine now if he had allowed himself to have a breathing tube, but it's a choice he made. Now the news will proclaim it was someone else that couldn't be saved.

That is truly frightening. I know a few people who lost relatives after they made "one mistake", like "going to church ONE time after the first shot"... or "staying inside" (?) no clue as to how they caught it.
