This is the typical Hollywood ploy when a person has no career and they fall out of the limelight. They go to a media outlet and start the "poor me" syndrome to get attention and sympathy. Regardless of the outcome of the cancer, the result will be the same, she'll disappear back into no-mans-land where she belongs.
