Ya think that maybe other less friendly nations might supply such technology to those who would do us harm? That would include external and internal threats to our nation.

Other nations don't/won't have to supply them. No matter what the technology, there will always be some captured/shot down and then reverse engineered by rouge nations. It only takes one.
