Right, and a federal marshal who is an amputee, and is carrying a package of dental fixtures, is a partial marshal with a parcel of partials.

I can but not in this country.
Hong Kong back in the late 70s. The 'natives' were restless and certain parts of HK were temporarily placed off limits to all military personnel as the Brits and segments of the indigenous Chinese were at odds with each other.
And 'partial martial law' was exactly how it was disseminated in the "POD".
(nope..not a podcast. It was a sheet of paper the chief yeoman put out every day and it's contents read aloud at morning muster and or over the 1MC shipboard 'public address system' 1 Main Circuit if orders were 'muster on station'.

The PODs would look something like this:


(There was also a Plan of the Week, which rarely said anything important unless we were scheduled to be crossing a boundary of some sort, such as Equator or International Date Line.)
