Sure you can.. I'm on comcast, and I've been "trimming" all kinds of channels from my service the past few months to lower my bill.. I got rid of the sports channel package, got rid of some of the paid movie channels, and some other stuff i don't use or want.. You can customize your service just by calling them up.. Took a little time to figure out what i wanted to drop, and wanted to keep, and a little bit of time working with the service rep on the phone, but it can be done..
My bill was a little over $400 a month.. Got it down to about $215. That includes internet obviously.[This message has been edited by Jonesy (edited 12-06-2020).]

While might work at high levels, You can't customize most bundles like Double Play and others. Try to custom often won't happen under 1 or more year contracts. W/o a contract and w/o a bundle can raise prices more for many users. Example: Douple Play include(ed) Netflix so stopping the bundle would make you pay Netflix per month.
What can save money is when can run your own modem or gateway but only a few Arris models support phones and none supports Comcast home security etc. Current Comcast gateways are $10 to $15 per month and give Comcast access to everything on your home network.
Note: Arris makes many Comcast etc gateways and has own Moto Cable equipment for several years. So Moto name on them means nothing but still use Moto for brand loyal etc. Some models are sold under Arris and Moto.

Forgot to add that when you have a Comcast Gateway... You are also a "public" Xfinity WiFi Hotspot by default. You have to login to about same web page to disable that and Very few do causing more problems, worse in neighborhoods condos etc with many WiFi nets. Likely need to check/disable every time you get a new one or even same one as Comcast can turn on w/o notice during firmware upgrades or just at Comcast whim.
If you have iffy cable, this can slow down everything more then iffy cable does by itself. Docsis3 and 3.1 is very picky on condition, how wired, and more or will crawl or disconnect often.

I'm not anti-capitalist, as my post clearly indicates. What do you think I meant by "What the market will bare".
I know you like to think of me in simple ways that make it easy for you to dismiss me as a thinking human being, but that don't make any of your projections upon me true. If you were interested, you could have just asked.
But that don't quit fit the intent, now does it.

I apologize... I pre-judged your comment. I assumed it was a crack on capitalism. I see now that you are suggesting that people could "vote with their feet" so to speak... that if everyone cancelled their membership and went somewhere else (capitalism), they'd have to reconsider. I concur...

Problem is most people Can't "vote with their feet/wallet" because: Only 1 broadband ISP has service in your area or in a building. If someone does have 2, is likely FiOS or similar w/ same or worse problems. Can't install Sat ISP in a lot of places. Apt and Condo regulate or ban anything install on building or "porches." Example: Many buildings here ban just about everything left on "porches" even plastic chairs w/o someone actually using at that time because even a "slow breeze" can knock stuff off the building and hurt or kill people on the ground. Even if can install, starlink needs to track sat's across open sky. This is Not like old geostationary sat's used by Dish etc or Iridium phones and related using low to very low bandwidth. (Iridium and related still have problems trying to connect in a city w/ big buildings.) Starlink et al uses Active Dishes to continue scan the sky for LEO sat's and not really made for people in cities. Starlink dish teardown YT and search YT starlink dish moving Can't use Cell data. Can't get speeds because of building construction, location, etc, and even if can get speeds cost too much for most people in US and other countries. "5G" is a joke in most places and will never get built. Many places still can't see 4G or 3G even use whatever outside. Many buildings block even basic cell signal for voice calls because of construction. Gotten worse when AT&T et al was force to shut off analog cell because digital w/ high frequency radio can't go thru many walls. Sim to 2.4 vs. 5GHz for WiFi but much worse. Older 800-900MHz channels penetrated walls much better then 2GHz and higher even w/ higher power "radios." Even 800-900MHz have issues/problems and many Police and others Still have problems w/ radios dropping signal.

Accepted. I appreciate the character it took to apologize to someone who's not exactly one of your favorite people here. Thank you.

Update: Xfinity send out this in many areas... (Summery)
| quote | Good news! We are giving you a courtesy adjustment We’re happy to announce that you’ll receive an adjustment of $20.82 on your account. {As Sports Fee adjustment for CCP virus cancels.} + Xfinity TV now includes access to the Peacock Premium streaming service from NBCUniversal at no extra cost (a $4.99 per month value). |
|
So... A "rebate" then higher fees to get many times that in 2021 and beyond. A "Free service upgrade" likely because few buy the crap and you still pay higher fees in 2021 is not = "at no extra cost." IOW Fraud. Full Text:
