This state is desperate, the only way it continues is to have the FEDs bail them out.

LOL, I have been saying for YEARS that the other 49 States will pay for the train. Not that I want the stupid thing or it's corrupt swamp of political hand outs and waste, but at its core was a STUPID idea to begin with. But for those that have no choice in the matter, thank you for paying for the slow speed train to nowhere in California.

"Texas is a woman she used to say... A big, wild, beautiful woman. You get a kid raised-up to where he’s got some size… and there’s TEXAS, whisperin’ in his ear, smilin’, sayin’ ‘come on out with me, an’ have some fun’. It’s hard enough to raise children ANY place, she’d say, but if ya gotta fight TEXAS… a mother hasn’t a chance!”"

The headline is a bit misleading. AFAIK, neither he nor his company headquarters has moved fully to Texas.

HP has a large site in Austin and used to have a large site at the old Compaq headquarters in Houston so there may actually be a significant amount of managers who want to get back there. When I used to work at HP San Diego we lived under the constant threat of having the site shut down b/c operations and employees salaries were 'too high.' Although it has gone through multiple layoffs and sell-offs of land the San Diego site is still there holding its own. Palo Alto was the highest cost site and apparently it's time has come: some of the research will be staying in Palo Alto for some time but the headquarters folks will move. Bill and Dave's garage is still in Palo Alto but I imagine that in the not-to-distant future the company they founded will have no assets there. The excellent park that Bill and Dave built themselves (really) for employee picnics and camping was sold as prime real estate long ago.

Hard to imagine Tesla building in California in the first place. You HAD to see the writing of 35 years on the wall.
