You already have and more than once, thru you elected representatives, senators, and commander-in-chief, and, you undoubtedly will again.

He looks like a White African of British descent. He also looks like an entomologist, herbotologist or horticulturist, not a security worker.

The framing hammer when viewed out of context would be seen as a violent tool of destruction, and it is a fact if used by the wrong people it is very capable of doing great harm. But in the hands of a craftsman the tool is used to help create shelter for those in need.
With out a doubt the military has one primary reason for being in existence. To protect our way of life by using equal or greater force to over come those that would destroy the way we choose to live because they don't agree with it. Those forces are comprise of our fellow brothers and sisters and have shown enormous displays of humanitarian efforts but lets not forget why they exist in the first place. It would be great if we could live in a world where they were not needed. But there will always be those that think differently then you do and they will want to force you to believe as they do by any means. These brothers and sisters stand in the way of those that would take your way of life away if they were removed.
And yes there have been times when those forces have been abused. When that hammer has been been used to push an agenda or cover up the foul doings of those we choose to represent us (not convinced that happens anymore) instead of providing a means of security. And yes just like every where there are assholes that **** it up for all of us. Remember those that allow our brothers and sisters to be compromised the next time you are called to vote.
Back to the subject, if our military is used to rescue someone from a hostile environment do you think they should be billed for those efforts? Who should shoulder the cost of those efforts?

Millions of Americans would contend that the military isn't working in the world for our way of life, but is working for the .001% and increasing their influence in the world.

Stop listening to what the media is spewing. They are pushing an agenda and are far more dangerous. Who do you think owns the media? Define that .001% pretty sure you will see them listed on the board of most of the giant media platforms.

I (and every other) "dumb civilian" American is protected today by a military that is funded by Congress, both in this country and abroad. A very long and historically vetted precedent... This protection goes back for over 200 years, right to the shores of Tripoli when Barbary pirates were kidnapping American sailors and civilians and holding them for ransom. It was our 1st overseas war and the first time an American president sent our military into harm's way without prior approval of congress. 1805. We do not charge Americans for individual protection. Never have and I hope we never do.[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 11-01-2020).]

If in fact they are being abused and put in harms way to push an agenda shouldn't there be oversite? Would it be defined as a crime to put yourself in harms way that requires extraordinary means to recover you?
Not all of us dumb bastards that joined the service were so dumb as to not see what was going on and have questions. Just because we ask those questions doesn't mean we wouldn't still stand that line. And if we do fall wouldn't it be up to our brothers and sisters to ask that same question?

We did, millions of us and growing. It's the media telling the rest of you that the wars are for our benefit. I'm asking you to stop listening to the media.
