Correction: Moller has spent ... millions of other people's dollars developing his Skycar.

One may correctly get the idea that, both as an engineer and as a pilot, I'm not a fan of the Moller project. On the other hand, I have nothing but respect for Molt Taylor and his Aerocar, which actually achieved CAB (predecessor to the FAA) certification more than 60 years ago. Even though the Aerocar was a technical success, it was not a success in the marketplace; everyone liked the idea of a flying car (or a roadable airplane, if you prefer), but hardly anybody was willing to pay the real cost for one and even fewer were willing to put up with the inevitable inconveniences presented by such a design compromise.

Even worse, it would require that you actually learn something new and pass a written test, an oral exam, and a flight test demonstrating your competence in all of the required skills, plus a comprehensive medical exam ... and that's just for admission to the most basic license level. "I'm sure I could fly a plane, no problem" (per pontiackid86) just won't cut it. Thousands have done it; you can too ... but not without a lot of effort and determination.

Are you kidding me, I couldn't pass the medical exam never mind the rest of those. besides I hate flying in the big birds, now the little puddle jumpers, seaplanes hey at least they have a glide path, but hey like I said, I would never pass the physical.

And you was calling maryjane a cheap skate.
Open up your wallet Steve. Don't settle for the econo box. Get their luxury model. The TF-X.

Mo' pretty and the cost is ...

... priced as low as possible while still allowing Terrafugia to grow to support our customers. The final pricing will not be set until we are much closer to delivery.

No runway needed vertical take offs/landings. More at linky

Now I like that one better, 200 MPH and no brakes, I might open my wallet for that one, not that there is ever any money in it.

An aircraft you could drive/park in/on public roads is not one you would want to bet your life on in the air.

Well, the dings & rattles of using public roads aside, you don't really want anyone but you touching or bumping into your aircraft in the parkinglot at Safeway before a flight.
The preflight would take hours...

Something goes wrong with your car, you can always pull over to the side of the road while you figure out what to do. That's not an option in an aircraft.
