Here's a thought...
Remember when the charges were announced? The Chicago police chief stood up in front of the national press, and described the things that Smollett "did".
He never used the word "allegedly".
I think he shot himself in the foot. A good defense lawyer would probably be able to eat him alive. They may have realized that.
Although the timing is interesting.

This whole thing just might come unraveled before the day is over. Can you say "obstruction of justice"?
We could see a rift between Barack "the police acted stupidly" Obama and Rahm "never let a crisis go to waste" Emanuel.
I do not like Rahm Emanuel, but today he is right.

The FBI that was weaponized against the president? I’m thinking it’s over legally. It will be interesting to find out who was pulling the strings here. This could be political fodder for the next election.

That's what I told the wife when we heard the news. Something is going to happen to him for real now and he's probabaly not going to survive this time.

The FBI who now must prove that they are nonpartisan and care only about truth and justice. This has nothing to do with Trump.
It is my opinion that the Obamas are behind this.
