Hi All, Slowly getting my Fiero closer to a first drive. 86 SE 2.8 II have a starting issue, keys are in and all the lights on the dash come on but no crank. figured it was a clutch safety switch, pulled it all apart and it seems to be working, jumping the two wires together did not start the car. I found a wiring diagram and shows a fuseable link, can anyone tell me where i would find this or a picture of it. the diagram seems pretty straight forward so should be able to trace the issue I can start the car by a trigger switch straight ti the starter and solenoid Thanks for any help[This message has been edited by rusty_one (edited 12-02-2025).]

Fusible Link 'G' is found at the Starter Solenoid
PS - If the Clutch Starter Safety Interlock Switch is actual 'dead', as a safety advocate, I recommend repairing it...

Thank you!! I tested the switch itself and it is actually working my first step is i should have checked for power going in to it. (yellow wire) I have a feeling it may be a fuse at the panel

My 86 SE had a ground wire from the starter mounting bolt to the driver side lower frame rail. It would not start without the ground. I bought the car with 30K miles on it, and the ground looked to be OEM.
Use a meter to check if you have 12v at the solenoid signal wire when the key is in the 'crank' position.

Hey all i had a bit of time to play around with this. I am actually getting no power to the yellow wire while cranking please see diagram above Is there a fuse associated with this? I have a ecm ignition with a 10amp fuse as well as an empty sloy that says ignition.
where does the yellow wire power come from. i guess i could pull apart the steering column but hoping some one has an idea where to trace the power source for my yellow wire Thanks Russ

The Yellow wire in your diagram comes from the ignition switch which is mounted externally on the lower end of the steering column, it i possible that switch is out of adjustment as there are slots to adjust it, or it could be faulty. Its easy to access, remove the lower cowl, the 2 steering column bolt sand loosen the lower nuts and you can slide the column back and down and there it all is.
