When I start my 88 with the iron duke, the oil pressure gauge reads very high (like needle all the way to the end high) and stays that way for a bit after I turn off the engine. I'm looking to install a mechanical test gauge to see what my pressure actually is but I can't for the life of me find where the oil pressure sending unit is. Would someone explain where it is for me? Pics would be appreciated if not a bother.

With my Formula, a pegged (to the right) oil pressure gauge was simply a loose connection at the sender. T'was a ten second repair job.

Is near the ignition brick and hard to see from above. Pull air cleaner and look thru intake but cover cleaner studs so can't hit you in the face, worse, you eye.
First Check sender plug as above... Can reach plug go above DIS brick. See my Cave, Oil Sensor tell what wires do.
Note: Iffy OP gauge Wire can be anywhere between sender and gauge. Even problems w/ gauge and dash back "board."
gauge sees 0Ω=0psi, 45Ω=½ scale, 90Ω=full scale, but point to right off scale is open wire somewhere.
If you pull the sender Do Not load the plastic body. That can wreck it. you twist only on the metal base part. Think 1-1/8" size if you find short fixed wrench. ------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. Alright thanks guys, I was able to find it finally! Now my problem is that I left my deep well sockets at work so I'll have to wait another day to get at it. Much thanks!

Most "deep" sockets won't work here.
If deep enough, rarely, Most Upper wall won't have Inner Diameter to clear the plastic. Most are only to fit over normal bolts/studs w/ standard nut types.
very short wrenches or "Crow Feet" are common to work w/ things like this. Likely GM have special tool from Kent-Moore to install them. Sim to O2 "wrenches" from KM and everyone else.
