FIERO MECHANIC NEEDED (Page 1/2)
Jaimelupiannn MAY 01, 07:59 PM
Hey there guys, I was wondering if anyone knew a good fiero mechanic near Sacramento ca, I’ve recently had a problem with my temperature gauge not reading temp, I changed out the cluster with a new one and also changed out the sensor on the motor, and still nothing. Any clues, or does anyone know where I can get this fixed. Thanks.

You very well could have gotten the wrong sensor. The parts stores hand out the incorrect ones all the time. It should be a two wire plug. There is also a way to test the gauge and light. Here is some good info for you to read Temp Sensor

Agreed. Knowing what engine we're talking about would help.

V6 locations. Computer and temp gauge sensors same for 4-cyl.

For 84 4-cylinder fan switch is unique.

It’s a 87 v6 2.8L, i believe it’s the right sensor I looks like the computer sensor depicted in the photos, still have no clue, I’ll keep fiddling at it but maybe it’s beyond that.

Well... you say you changed the computer sensor (for ECM), but temp gauge still doesn't work. There's your problem.

You need to replace the temp GAUGE sending unit.
ACDELCO part number 2134547 or equivalent.
Has the plug in connector been butchered?

Take a picture of the sensor in question with your cell phone and post it on here.

I have always wondered why we have so many engine temp sensors......FOUR of them! Why didn't they just have one that was hooked to the ECM and then the ECM sends out signals to the gauge/Fan/Cold start inj.?

Seems like it would be much simpler.....Heck, it woulda saved a pound or so......

You’re right, I just ordered the other sensor hopefully that does the trick I had no clue these engines had multiple sensors. I’ll send pictures just to make sure.
