I literally just got done with all my coolant leaks. Oh well.

Went to go fill er up at the gas station and noticed a big puddle underneath the car. I figured it was the filler tube until I drove it back home and the thing left a slime trail. I got underneath the car after running it to see if I could spot where it was coming from and it looks to be coming from the middle of the tank. There's also smoke coming from where it's leaking when the car is running? Not sure if that's gas burning or what but I'm not a huge fan of it. The only wet spots seem to be in the middle but I don't think there are any fuel lines running there?

There are plenty of sources for a gas leak in the middle of the tank. I wouldn't be driving the car until this is corrected.

I have no plans to drive it. Should I just drop the tank and look for leaks? I need to drop it anyway to replace the sender. I've just been putting it off

Most likely the big O-ring on the top of the tank has gone bad.

Would that have been leaking prior to me filling it up though?

If the O-ring is not sealing properly any longer, it's simply more obvious when the tank is full.

Aye. Fair enough. I'll drop the tank later and see if its dry rotted.

I got a buddy to help me drop the tank tomorrow. Assuming the O-ring went bad and that's it, will this suffice? I've never heard of the brand.

That above image states "Lock Ring". It does come with an O-ring, does it?

Are you going to lighten the full tank before you drop it?

I'll inspect the box before buying but it says it does. I guess I can replace the lock ring too. No harm in it.

I plan on just putting my own hose leading to a bucket on the back of the tank and tipping it backwards. That or run the fuel pump until the thing is empty.
