Sudden Fuel leak after refill (Page 2/3)

before you buy X part...

Close/seal all lines/ports and use any air pump/compressor connected to a vent line to pressurize the tank. Only need 1-3 PSI.
That will quickly show whatever is leaking.

Seal ring above might be bad but any part might have a rust hole and if true is a much more work to fix right.

Embarrassingly enough.. the only air tool I own is a bike pump. Hopefully that works. Regardless of that, that's a really good suggestion. Thank you.

I don't envision that working out very well.

Apply 12v to the ALDL fuel pump terminal, and pump the gas into a jerry can. As soon as the pump appears to be sucking air, disconnect the 12v immediately. Otherwise, you risk burning out the fuel pump (which is cooled by gasoline going through it).

I'm sorry for asking so many questions all the time but how would I go about putting power to that? Could I just jump it like you do to check engine codes?

You can use 12v from the cigarette lighter.

Aaaaaannnnddd shes out. That actually wasn't that bad. Made a big ol mess though. The o ring didnt really look that bad but I'll replace it anyway, also checked for holes with a light inside it and theres not even a thin spot in the tank. My only guess is the o ring.

Do the air test above. Light can be blocked and "hole(s)" in the tank or lines still leak air and/or liquid.

Getting it out is the easy part, getting the hoses re-connected back in the car is the hard part.

Temporarily removing the heat shield back there (four screws) makes the job a heckuva lot easier.
