When trying to start my 1986 V6 SE 4speed I have to press my clutch pedal so hard it feels like I'm going to push the pedal through the floor board, but once it has started and I'm driving and switching gears its like the breeze. Any Help? Is it my neutral safety switch or something more difficult?. Its getting so bad I almost stranded myself last night.

Well, yes and no. It's called a clutch safety switch on manual transmission equipped cars.

Not sure what the safety switch has to do with "switching gears"? Your issue is simply starting the engine, not disengaging the clutch, right? In other words, when you turn the ignition key to Start, often nothing happens until you "push the (clutch) pedal through the floor board"? If so, yes, it's a simple adjustment of the clutch safety switch.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 05-29-2020).]

shruggernaught... Look at the clutch pedal arm, for the switch. Unplug it and screw the switch in or out. In your case it would seem you need to screw it in so it activates sooner...

What do you mean by "screwing it in"?
