Check out the factory rims and tires I got!!! They only have 30K on them and they look BRAND NEW!!! According to the RPO code under the hood, these are the ones that belong on the car. I like them wayyy more than the American Racing "astrella" or whatever the rims were called that the PO had installed on the car.
The car really looks great at 10 feet away. I can't wait until paint... Whenever that will be... More important stuff first... It runs great right now, got a slight exhaust leak at the joint of the cat off the down pipe that I need to weld up one of these days and most importantly I want to take the deck lid off soon and assess/remove the rust and put some thick undercoat on there it so I never have to worry about if it's got cancer ever again! In the coming weeks, the interior is FINALLY going in. Carlisle is coming up fast... Procrastinating is also one of my hobbies haha
I also ordered tail light lenses from Slammed, If they ever show up they will be installed ASAP. Got my Embrace Racing LED kit all soldered up, wired and ready to go...

I did a lot of stuff in the last week!
Check out what I got done!
First off I did the temp gauge rewire to stop the needle from pegging. I cut the wires and spliced in extra wire so it looks pretty.

Second I replaced the driver side door handle; a black one, so it matches the passenger side (replaced it when I first got the car because it was broken!). It was a fiasco because I found out that the pins that mount the door handle were too skinny and short for the replacement self tapping nuts The Fiero Store sells. I called up Doorman and they say they mount to the car with 7mm self tapping nuts... NOPE! I had to improvise the mounting bolts and came up with this solution:
I stacked four flat washers under a regular M6-100 nut and tightened it up, tight, but not too tight; just enough. Hopefully they hold up... well see! If they don't, the real solution is a size of self tapping nut that is SMALLER than 6.3mm. I ordered a box of them and even they are too big, so I at least have an idea of where to go next if the improvised solution fails.
Third, I lubed the crap out of the window motors and all the moving parts. They are like rocket ships now!!! I lubed every single moving part with HHS-K spray grease (the spray that we used at my old dealership for sunroof lubrication, fixed many a squeaks for me) Stand by for a video, Ill record one tomorrow or something.
Fourth, and most importantly, I received and installed Slammed's GT lens repair kit with the Embrace Racing LED Tail light kit...

OLD SET ALREADY ON CAR

OLD (origional) SET; RESTORED

FINISHED

For more information on the tail light lens installation, check out my install thread here!
I know I keep saying it, but I reallllllly have to get the interior done soon... It's all sitting patiently in my basement waiting!
My "to do" list before Carlisle this coming June: New interior installed, Finish sound deadening stereo mounted permanently Fix catalytic converter leak (defiantly not removing it and re installing my strait pipe, nope definitely not doing that!)
Stay tuned...------------------ "Discord" Red 1988 GT under restoration!

Wow, a lot accomplished for just one day! Looks like you used micro fiber as your headliner material? I did in mine, and it looks really nice, and helps dampen sound a little bit.

Ugh. What an exhausting weekend... today was a long day too. The interior took longer than I though it would... Now I remember why I was putting it off for so long! It's finally done!!!!!
Mr. Mike's seat covers look STUNNING.

There is stuff here and there that are annoying me about how it went together. Aftermarket parts are funny sometimes...
The driver side carpet, the side that I thought would give me the hard time because I had to deal with the peddles went in flawlessly. Put it in, trimmed to fit, blah blah blah, and done.

Unfortunately, the carpet on the passenger side was not "molded' correctly it seems. It seemed like the curve of the back that goes up against the firewall to the inner most edge that goes under the center console didn't have the correct "shape" to it so I cut a slit all the way down the seam to make it look halfway decent... Not perfect by any means. Unfortunately due to the terrible fitment, there is a slight bump in the carpet under the subwoofer. Ironically, since I needed a little room to snake the wires for the stereo back there and through the carpet, it kinda worked out for the best anyway. It's really hard to see with the seat in anyway, even when showing off the stereo, which is now mounted permanently.

I installed the freshly Plasti-dipped trims, the new shifter boot, the new parking brake boot, and the sun visors. They all have red stitching to compliment the red stitching I had the steering wheel upholstered with, as well as the shifter knob itself.

Old vs. new:

And, no, those old floor mats are NOT permanent. I have a pair of Lloyd floor mats on order with the Pontiac emblem embroidered into them! I also plan on getting new inner door panels from The Fiero Store in the future, so I didn't re upholster the bottoms of them. They will be getting a fresh coat of fabric paint to look decent until then.
That's all for now...

I know this is a late update, but here it goes!

Went to Carlisle with my uncle in both our Fieros. Wow, what a great show. It's the best car show I have ever attended... Can't wait till next year...

Hit traffic on the way home and nearly overheated. Good thing I fixed the wiring on the coolant temp gauge, the light came on just as it should have from the factory when it started getting a little too toasty! Pulled over and noticed the rad fan was spinning SLOWWW; I punched the sucker and it came back to life to get me through the traffic. The rad fan motor took a dump, the next morning I started it up and the same thing happened. My buddy has a parts car nearby and he was gracious enough to give me the one off it. I fixed a few wiring things that have been driving me nuts since I got it, and a few things I found when looking through the fan circuit for any faults. While I was at it, I threw in a brand new Rodney 180° thermostat and low temp fan switch for good measure, because I like things running cooler, gives me peace of mind.
ECM coolant temp sensor was wired like this for a while. It worked, so I left it alone... until now! :P

YEP THAT IS HOW THE COOLANT FAN WAS WIRED. ONE OF THE FIVE PREVIOUS OWNERS I HATE YOU SO MUCH.
 MUCH BETTER!!!
I drove it in the local parade, my dad DJ'ed the fireworks show so I parked it right next to him, and got some nice shots of the fireworks! Use them for desktop backgrounds if you want, I really like how they came out, considering the lighting was terrible...

One step at a time, and two years later, I am diggin' just driving it around right now... I love having a "driver" show car, it looks great from 10 feet away. Once paint happens, I have a feeling Ill worry about taking it out for the random drives I enjoy so much right now. All in all, It's been a productive year with repairs and mods if I do say so myself...
Next year for sure, suspension overhaul. I have Rodney's one inch lowering ball joints waiting to go in....... ------------------ "Discord" Red 1988 GT under restoration!

Well... I went on an adventure!
The farm fields of Lancaster PA!
Got a 4.9 Cadillac engine out of a 93 Deville, An Allante Intake setup, steel rocker supports, as well as a set of LT1 Camaro valve springs from a 96 Z28.
Loaded in the back of the truck! My buddy Jerry was a lifesaver and helped me wayyy more than he needed to...
 Got it home
And since I don't have a garage, I put it in the basement of my house. It was a fiasco, but we did it!
I originally wanted to do the 3.8 SC swap in my car, but with a mixture of a deal I couldn't refuse, the relative ease (as well as lower cost) of doing this swap, and the fact that I LOVE the sound of a V8, I had no choice! I am not looking for a rocket ship, I think that the rumble of the V8, the added torque, and the 50 extra horsepower over stock will be fine for the cruses that I love taking the car on now.
There is NO RUSH to do this swap... I don't plan on doing it for at least a year or two. it was an offer I couldn't refuse. The engine has a lot of miles on it, 148,087 to be exact. I know, not optimal... I want to refresh it... No matter how hard it may be with the steel sleeves and what not. I used to work on Porsches, I think I will be able to figure this 20 year old beast out... I don't feel comfortable putting in a mystery engine in my car! Bad news would be inevitable down the road!
Worst case scenario if it doesn't turn out well, I can always go get another one with a lot less miles. I got this engine, with all the upgrades I mentioned earlier for it for only 400$! I basically got the engine for free for buying the Allante intake!!!
I am very excited! :3------------------ "Discord" Red 1988 GT under restoration!
