Found the problem, the pot metal switch actuator rack is broken in half, since I need to remove the lower housing to get at it, I am thinking of just removing the key interlock ( manual Transmission safety lever) especially since I know for sure the AT ignition switch interlock cable feature is in place. What do you guys think?? |

Yep. Yard that thing out of there while you're in there.

My newest update is that I have tried everything except a torch to remove the pivot pin from the switch side of my column with no luck, the other side came out fairly snugly but it came out, I have a machine screw bottomed out in the middle of it but it will not budge..I sprayed it with some anti rust blaster to hopefully get it loose, if anyone has a tip on how to get this out, I would appreciate it. I am also trying locally to secure another column..

Try this thread. Lots of pictures and commentary on taking the steering column apart. http://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...2/HTML/088020-3.html Midway thru the thread, around March 10, 2011. [This message has been edited by Mike in Sydney (edited 03-23-2021).]
