deck lid torsionbars (Page 2/3)

It actually only took me about 10 minutes.

I started on the right side.
I first removed the plastic triangle piece circled in GREEN.
I then attached a hook on the torsion bar where the BLUE arrow is.
Using a ratcheting tie strap I pulled the torsion bar off of the pin far enough to slide it in the farthest back hole.

Next I pulled back the trunk seal a bit so I wouldn’t damage it with the tie strap hook.

I didn’t even bother removing the air duct, I just went over it and it workout fine.
Attached the hook on the left torsion rod and pulled it back with the ratcheting tie strap.
Removed pin from middle hole and put it in rear hole

Oh crap why didn't I think of a tie-down strap?

The last time I adjusted the spring tension, I some rope and one person with lots of pulling power, and another to insert/remove the pin. :slaps self upside the head:

buddycraigg, I'd give you another + if I could.

THANK YOU!! To everyone who answerd I have not gotten out to try anything yet, but I'm sure with all the help I will get it fixed. It is cold, nasty and wet and I do not have any cover!

With rear hole I assume the hole nearest to the back of the car?

Since replacing the hinges quite a few years back, my deck lid won't stay open either...

Should I move both pins? Or can I just try moving one first, check, and if necessary move the other as well?

You can only move one pin at a time. See what it's like, move the other if required.

With a piece of nylon rope attached to a three foot length of 2x4 acting as a lever in the trunk, it's very easy to release enough tension from the pins to allow their change of location.

Good thread here - How To - adjust decklid torque rod tension
