Do you actually have a thermostat installed? If you do, what temperature is it rated at? Should be 195°F.

Ya know thats a good question lol, when I got the car there was one sitting in the trunk that looked kind of roughed up and I ended up throwing it away because I assumed the previous owner had swapped them and just hadn't gotten rid of the old one.And I can post the MAT readings from warm drive if that would be helpful?

The last thing to do is to assume anything about a car and how it's been previously treated. I suspect you have no thermostat installed. Spend a couple extra dollars and buy a superior 195º thermostat - Stant SuperStat 45819.

Well I'll check for that tomorrow make sure it has one if not I'll pick up a 195,would this also affect acceleration?

It certainly doesn't help that your engine is probably never going into closed-loop operation.

Hmmm ok, well I will definitely check it tomorrow and let you know if it had one or not 😂

So it had no thermostat in it, and in the process or checking the gasket on the inside of the cap broke and so it started leaking antifreeze yay.... So now I ordered a new thermostat, and cap which will be here later tonight.

Your next step will be properly "burping" the cooling system. I've used the following procedure with half a dozen different Fieros...

* Make sure rad cap is the proper one for Fiero use. The catalogs are wrong! You want a non-vented one,
* Check that the overflow tank and the small hose to the rad are both in good shape. Otherwise air gets sucked in.
* Ensure that coolant level in overflow tank is at the "Cold" level.
* Position rear end of Fiero higher than the front.
* Remove thermostat housing cap and thermostat... and then add coolant to thermostat housing with rad cap also removed until coolant runs out the top of the radiator.
* Re-install rad cap.

* Continue to add coolant until you see the level come up to where the thermostat normally sits.
* Put thermostat cap on and turn just barely enough to hold cap on.
* Start engine and run for about 30 seconds.
* Remove thermostat cap and check coolant level.
* Repeat last four steps until coolant level no longer drops.

* Re-install thermostat and thermostat housing cap.

As long as there are no blockages anywhere in the cooling system and the water pump is circulating coolant, you should be good to go.

Thanks for the tips on burping the system , I burped it tossed the new cap and thermostat in and my temp gauge actually went up lol..... still didn't fix my issue with acceleration though.
