86 2.5L only getting 8.5 volts coming out of computer at the firewall to fuel pump. I've replaced the relay, checked the fuses, replaced the pump, but new pump wont work with 8.5 volts. is there anything else im missing to check before i replace the ECU?

the Orange wire at the relay does not come from the computer. It is part of a fused circuit from fusable link A. Check the fuse contacts, or maybe the link itself. [This message has been edited by Gall757 (edited 04-08-2020).]

Agreed. You should be getting 12V direct from fuse box circuit.

yes i did start a new one thank you very much, the people i need to talk to about this problem may not be inclined to lend themselves to a fuel pump issue, also if you notice i havent gotten alot of help from the posts i already had on here other than unhelpful comments or criticism. if you cant or dont want to help please do not add to the amount of frustration i am already under trying to figure this out

Is there another sensor feeding into the ECM ? I am thinking perhaps the voltage required by the fuel pump is being controlled by another sensor ahead of the ECM. The ECM maybe passing through the received “in voltage” to the fuel pump.
I know it sounds weird and I’m not describing it in electrical terms. Maybe this would ring a bell with another forum member who could identify the source of the ECM input voltage onto a particular port connector on the ECM. I guess I could say it like one sensor feeding lower voltage than normal into the ECM and it is just being passed through to the pump.
Hope this gives some thought into the solution
