“Rare car spotting” thread (Page 1/2)
Kitskaboodle OCT 03, 04:16 PM
I thought it would be neat to have a thread on rare car sightings. Whether I’m at a PNP, driving my car down the road, walking through my neighborhood, etc. and I spot a rare “animal”, I take a pic of it. Over the years I have accumulated quite a few!
Anyways, to “get this party started” here are a few pics of some rare cars.
Please feel free to post your rare car sightings!

Dodge Daytona Turbo Z Shelby. Engine compartment filled nearly to the top with mulch and leaves. Reddish pink car is a Ford Think City electric car. Very rare to find these around.

I recently saw a mkiv supra that looked like it had not been modified in any way. Even had stock wheels.

That is pretty rare.

A few years ago, I went to a Cars & Coffee event south of Sacto (Folsom)....There were approx' 100 cars (Including three Fieros) Nice meet without any stupidity. Towards the end a Ferrari 458 pulled in followed by a SMALL blue car...You would expect everyone to swarm the Ferrari- but nope; Everyone clustered around the blue car, which was an Autozam AZ-1 mid-engined car with gullwing doors. This is a Kei-class car, which is only sold in Japan...someone had obviously imported it. Always wondered what that Ferrari owner thought of the people ignoring his $$$$$$$$ car for a tiny (But even rarer) 3 cylinder (But turbo) car.....

The first looks like an ordinary imported truck. However, if you look closely you will see that it is a rebadged Nissan Frontier that was sold in Canada as a Suzuki “Equator”. Only one I’ve ever seen in the Bay Area.
2nd pic is a Dodge Rampage at the Fremont: Newark PNP. When’s the last time you saw one of these?? 😀

And just for fun, here is two more:

How good are your chickens? Why, they’re “Hella good!” 😀
On another note, when is the last time you saw a Mustang 2 Donk? It’s probably been a while.

I have a great Rampage story. In 1992 I told a girl in a bar that I owned a "camper" when in fact I just had a roommate who had a Rampage with a shell on the back like the one in your picture. I talked him out of the keys and took this lady out in the woods with an air mattress and some blankets. I had not realized that the bed was so short I could not even lie in it without letting down the tailgate. And the support struts for the back hatch of the shell were defective. So when we got the truck bouncing a little it slammed shut and scared the crap out of us. Even under those challenging conditions we accomplished our goal that night, but for some reason the relationship never progressed any further.

It may sound like a "bad" memory, but in fact it was one of those experiences that lets us know we are truly living our lives.

And I owe it all to Dodge.

The Dodge Rampage actually laid down a quicker time thru the slalom than a BMW 3 series in a magazine test (I don't reNember which mag, tho)

The top pic is a “Mad Max” Z3 (with a chain link welded roof rack and a piston coming up through the trunk lid). The other pic is a local guy. Met him at OSH years ago. He was a manager there at the time. He very graciously helped me get some glass measured and cut and helped me fix my broken window at my wife’s antique store. Somehow we got onto the subject of cars. I told him I’m into Fiero’s and told me he had a 914-6. I thought to myself, ya right! It’s probably just a 914 wannabe. 😊
Well, strangely enough I had to get something else at that OSH the very next weekend. As I pulled in to the lot, there sat a beautiful white 914-6 sitting all by itself in the back of the lot! And I thought the guy was bull shirting me. 😀 I felt a little ashamed. Kit
