Reverse Light Options for C4 GT Tail Light Panel? (Page 1/1) |

The tail lights on my 88 GT are totally unsalvageable without new lenses. The lenses are cracked all along the top edge and basically disintegrating, delaminated, and cracked all over. Replacement lenses or tails are just way too marked up right now.
I've been looking at the couple different C4 Vette tail light panel replacements. The problem with the C4 tails is they have no reverse lights. Searching around, the fix was to use Pilot Automotive NV-803 trailer reverse lights in place of the rear markers in the bumper. The problem is those don't exist anymore. Has anyone found a modern equivalent?[This message has been edited by notsonic (edited 09-03-2025).]

The C4 panel doesn't have the backup lights because on the Corvette the back up lights were set to the sides of the license plate on the rear bumper. As you mentioned the Pilot trailer back up lights did fit the Fiero rear facia but they were discontinued a while ago. My solution would be to find COB LED light panels that fit where the reflectors are. The problem with that is that they are not waterproof so you would probably have to make a custom enclosed backup light case to fit. Should you decide to install the C4 Corvette style taillight panel its not just a bolt in. There's a lot of fabrication that goes with installing them. The mounting and light lenses require thread inserts so that screws can take a solid hold in the thin fiberglass, Then you will have to drill and precision slot the holes for the taillight sockets to fit. Finally they need to be painted in black enamel

Actual, the prices of New Keith Goodyear Lenses are down now, from the ~$1,750 peak a year ago... The average recent price of a very good set of GT taillights are around $800 - $1,000
$1,085 https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/080969.html $800 from member gtoformula https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/080923.html
On eBay; $1,100 plus shipping
The best of luck on your C4 GT Taillight Panel idea.... VN

Theres a couple listings on ebay for imperfect/delaminated/blemished repros at $1000+. I'll keep my eyes peeled here for any that come up for sale at a reasonable price. (Also, it's nice to read the posts of people that hoarded multiples. )
In the mean time I'll keep looking for back up lights to pair with the C4 style panel. I'll post if I find anything.

Those dual purpose LED lights would be great on the Ferrari light panels used on Fiero's. The ones sold by Pisa that accept round taillights should work with these

There was a version with revesre lights for the C4 corvette lights, I have one I planned on using in my car one day. I bought a set of Keiths lights and the paint inside is coming off now. May go back to my original idea with the C4 lights now.
