Hello PFF folks,
I am looking for some advice. I ordered a reverse switch for my 87 GT I'm restoring, from Red Devil River (RDR) on August 13th. It costs a fair amount of money. I did get a confirmation email immediately but have heard nothing since. I have recently emailed, called, left messages and PM'ed Tim with no response. I was originally just looking for some estimate on timing of the delivery, but given the lack of response, now I'm getting concerned that my order may never show up.
Has anyone recently ordered from RDR? Is this typical and to be expected? It's been 2 plus weeks. If others have ordered I'm curious what is the normal timeline and communications?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar experience years ago. I did get my part, but it did take way too long. He does check this site from time to time still.

Two weeks is nothing, compared to what other people have reportedly gone through. His username at PFF is phonedawgz. He's been helpful here over the years, so I hate to speak negatively of him... but unfortunately he does have a history of being difficult to get a response from at times.
I should add that he does not have a history of ripping people off. I have no reason to suspect that you won't get your order.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 08-28-2025).]

Timm has been on this forum and in the Fiero community a long while. He sells on eBay and the rules are that sellers must ship and provide tracking within three days. Just wanted to give an update and close out this topic. I did receive my part and it works. Communication wasn't there. But the part did come through eventually.

Thanks for reporting back. It's always good to have some closure to a thread.

This is always a problem when you have someone who creates products for the community out of passion, rather than strictly for a business sense. It's not always of course, you have Rodney Dickman who's fantastic about doing both... but it's an age-old story for literally every car hobby. Unless it becomes a full-time business, it's one of those things where the person has a day job and will get to it when they get to it. I just try to keep that in mind when buying from smaller stores that cater to niche markets.
Phonedawgz is a good dude... just busy.

*This* isn't the first. Yes, he maybe 'busy', but as a business; it is unprofessional. ALL sellers should reply...

I know... I get it. The only point I'm trying to make is that... these people usually do this because of their passion for the hobby... and often that personality type gets involved in a lot of things, and the person gets busy in life. I've found myself in similar situations where when I would fix up watches and sell them, I'd get a lot of people sending me watches and asking for them to be repaired. Often times, I agreed out of hand because I can't say no. I only do it for friends now, and I'm dead-honest... "You'll be waiting 6 months."
There's a guy on the Corvette forum who I agreed to give something to for free, but it's taken me forever to get it to him (2 months), and he's been kind of rude, haha... though I get it. Even though I'm sending it for free, and giving it to him for free. I'm just saying... I realize that life is busy... and I'm not excusing it, but people have so much going on today. I try to remember that when I buy things from individuals or small store owners. It just helps set my own expectations.
You know, I order something from Amazon, I expect it fast. Not disagreeing with you at all... just want people to consider the circumstances and the people. We're all part of a "community" of sorts here.
