That's a helluva difference between what you two guys are paying! I can't help but think there must be a massive difference in what's actually being covered.

82 T/A is for a 6 month period for what seems to be multiple cars, Cvxjet might be paying monthly, in which case the math works out better. Still seems expensive, I have 2 years driving experience, and pay 100 Canadian per car per month, for basic coverage, I do live in the middle of nowhere though, so that helps. Unfortunately can't get Hagerty until I'm 21, so stuck with basic coverage for another 2+ years.

Yeah, dollar figures being bandied about completely without context is as bad as people asking technical questions here without bothering to mention the year and/or engine of their Fiero.

True!

A) $275 or $576 is for 6 months....

And B) I just got to talk to the head lady at my State Farm office....she examined everything and it turns out they made a mistake, somehow had me marked down as 8200 miles driven in the last year- actual mileage was approx' 250....now my 6 month cost is going to be $380...and in a year the Ticket-charge is going away....so much better.

I was actually under the impression that the Lexis/Nexis situation was to do with my Fiero...but it turns out it was just the ticket...

If I drive my cars >>Backwards<< can I charge the insurance company...?

I'm tired of State Farm. I'm about to insure all three of my Fieros with Hagerty, if they'll accept them.

My dad has his Fiero, a cougar, and a grand prix on Hagerty, really easy to work with, great price, he's happy with them. I would put my Fiero on Hagerty, it's just they don't take anyone under 21, I even have a beater car on normal insurance, just 3 years ahead of the game I guess!

Years ago after having been with AllState for decades, I was notified of a 20 something percent increase in my home, auto, and boat insurance because they had encountered large losses due to hurricane damages. I don't recall when that hurricane they claim hit Atlanta, Ga.

My Farmers insurance went up. My homeowners went up because a storm blew a tree down on the corner of my garage. !00% replacement policy, but they only paid $1300 of $3000. Then took away my bundled discount and on top of that they raised my rates.

Just this year, I got a letter from them telling me they were increasing rates on my 2 Fieros and truck by 23% because among other things they had removed the agreed value of the Fieros and due to fatalities. So they remove Agreed Value which is less coverage and they raise rates. Like the hurricane that supposedly hit Atlanta, neither do I remember having run anyone over.

Good as you needed an explanation......

And yup again; miles driven/tickets/accidents/claims will factor 'risk' and increase the policy.

Also, California law mandates that insurers use estimated mileage when determining premiums. State Farm often requires me to 'proof' the mileage on some of my vehicles that I reported them as 'annually low miles.'

BTW - State Farm also offers a Usage-Based Insurance Program called "Drive Safe & Save" if you're willing to be monitored. This program combines a telematics device and smartphone app, giving you a discount of up to 30 percent.

And yes again, the cost of Auto Insurance will only continue to rise.........
