Has anyone heard of american collectors insurance. They quoted me $225 for a year. Pros , cons ?

I am currently using them for my replica, and they seem fine. I used them because they had good customer support. That being said, they do seem a little more restrictive on mileage use despite upgrading to a higher tier. I have more mileage to drive to shows or types of "power tours", but acted hesitant if I drove it more than 2 days a month for personal pleasure. (not that they really check).

If you want to have a more flexible use limit you might check out Grundy Insurance.

I have Grundy on my car $25,000 agreed value, high limit liability, no deductible, anual premium is $216.

Here's Grundys use policy from their website:

How Can I Use My Car?

Grundy wants you to enjoy your car, not keep track of mileage like some programs with limitations. Therefore, we give you unlimited miles for pleasure driving and in collector car-oriented activities. It is even OK if occasionally you drive your collector car to work to show it off to friends. However, your collector car must not be used as a daily driver. We require you and all licensed drivers in your household to have a modern car for everyday use.

When you have your car at home, it must be kept in an enclosed, secure garage when not in use. If you are away from home on extended outings your car is fully protected if you must park it outside, for example in a hotel parking lot. Grundy coverage includes Trip Interruption that reimburses you for hotel and repair costs in the event of a breakdown, and we also reimburse you for towing and labor charges up to $250. You can count on Grundy as you cruise.

We had a post about this a few weeks ago https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/099699.html

I've had American Collectors insurance for a number of years. $225 for a year.

Pros > They are a great company. Con > Can't really say anything bad about them. I'm paying about the same as your quote.

I use Hagerty Insurance for all of my collector cars. They have reasonable rates, the same restrictions as Grundy. Their roadside service is great and you get a really nice magazine to boot! My rates are about $250 per year and I have 3 cars insured with them.

Just got off the phone with American collectors insurance. They said I have to have it in a garage. Wouldn't you know it. Just can't win anymore.
