hello ther , I bought a 87 gt fiero that has a problem with the drivers door , it seems to sag an rub on the rocker panel , i can move it up a tad bit an it seems close alot better. it only has 37,000 miles on it an was stored back n 1994 the owner had a bad leg so im thinking he used the door to lift himself out , is it possable that the door hinge is bent? , most body shops here dont even work on older carss anymore just the new crap lol, thanks for any help
Yeah, I'd at least do the rebuild thing on them first. If he was using it as a "helper" it is more likely he kind of wore out those internals on the hinges. If you do that on the door get a helper. Those doors are surprisingly heavy.
I did not see it mentioned; The door hinge mounts are adjustable....It can be a very finicky job, but you can loosen the bolts a bit and then lift the trailing edge of the door, then retighten them- You may have to remove the front fender to access the bolts, tho.....You really need someone to help with this too....
Hey, that is a good point about adjusting. I just went through some of my old notes when I had my last Fiero. Basically it is the same adjustment procedure that I used even after I did the rebuild. This is by Paul aka The Driver..... Adjusting the door: 1) Remove the striker on the body. 2) Check the front up & down alignment - loosen both hinges to move it up or down to line up with the fender. Once this is good, loosen only one hinge at a time for the rest of the adjustments. 3) Once the front vertical is correct, close the door & check the rear vertical alignment. 4) If it sags (is too low): If the gap at the rear of the door-to-1/4 panel is too large, loosen the bottom hinge at the *cowl* & move it back until the rear body lines line up. If the rear gap is too small, loosen the top hinge & move it forward. 5) If it needs to go in or out at the top or bottom (to be flush with the 1/4 panel), loosen the hinges at the *door* to make it line up with the 1/4 panel. 6) Once the door is properly aligned (you may have to go back & forth with some of the above steps) replace the striker, making sure it doesn't change the alignment when you close the door. ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
Glad you didn't suffer a Fiero loss during the fire- I can't believe how bad it was (Still going a bit)...My whole life I have been boat camping on Trinity lake just west of there...1965 till this June.....Trinity County was hit very hard by the 4(5) year drought......For 4 years the lake was down over 100 feet, and this year, while the rest of CA is suffering a mild drought, Trinity county is having one of the driest years on record......I was planning on moving to Weaverville and building a house I designed.....But the fire/droughts/heat waves have taken the wind out of my sails.....

Keep safe!
I was in that fire 1 week after it started. Very hard to work and breathe in those conditions. The elderly lady and her 2 grandchildren that died in the fire were my co-workers family members

That is terrible... My condolences to your co-worker.
I drove up to Calistoga last year to pick up a spare Getrag trany....I was fine up 101 but when I got off onto surface streets just past Santa Rosa, I saw mile after mile of Chimneys and burnt cars...It was hard to see where I was going because of the horrible scope of the disaster......Loss of life, loss of property, loss of being able to live in a "Safe" environment......
I want to get out of the Bay Area/City....But, in CA, if you don't have miles and miles of pavement/parking lots/cement buildings surrounding you, you will now be in danger every summer of a firestorm.....
People don't understand- CA does not have ANY rainfall from May till late October...Nothing! The brush drys out and if a fire starts, with any wind it will travel faster than a man can run.......In my 58 years in CA I have never seen a year like this- except LAST year! The four to five year drought (2012-2016) killed half of the trees in the state....Now it's payback.....
The entire west coast is burning up. It's a freakin' disaster. This is a map showing the active forest fires here in BC... but I suspect it's just as bad in Washington State, Oregon, and of course, in California.
This is bad, really bad. For the last few weeks, the sun has just been an orange ball in the sky as the smoke is so thick. And keep in mind, I'm in a big city right on the coast which is miles and miles from the nearest fires... but the entire province is covered in smoke, and it's being blown across the whole of western Canada.
This is the second year in a row we've gone through this. Something is very very wrong.
My thoughts are with everyone on both sides of the border who have been displaced (or worse) due to these out of control fires.
Apologies to the OP for a few of us going off topic here, but when this subject is brought up in O/T, certain members there feel they are somehow entitled to stifile (and/or ridicule) open discussion.
We're having terrible fires and smoke here in Washington. I know that most people here think that climate change is a hoax. I'm curious as to the reasons. Is it a denial that we are having global warming, denial that it is man caused, a belief that fossil fuels are the cause or that the solutions offered are not the right ones. Just asking and wondering if anyone has changed their mind one way or the other.
